This museum is beautiful and the scenery surrounding it is absolutely breathtaking! The museum has no A/C but is accessible with the exception of the second story. It only costed us $1 in admission per person (bring cash). There is no gift shop. They had many displays of Taino artifacts including Taino symbols painted on the walls with a beautiful Taino portrait on the ceiling. It felt surreal and very calming walking through the museum, and it gives you a "bigger on the inside" feeling. On the outside, they have a few ceremonial plazas dotting the area and a Taino burial next to the museum itself. It's up in the mountains and it felt so quiet and calm. They had a few swings and chairs where you could sit and enjoy the mountains (everything outside the museum is free). There's even a big chair for a cute photo op.

This museum is also very close to another beautiful Taino destination: "La...

Bring your kids! The immense history presented here is essential for every Puerto Rican.

We visited on a weekday and there was no crowd. The woman at the desk in the Cemi was a wealth of information regarding Tainos and the importance recognizing their culture. In addition, she provided so much information regarding the history that occurred on these grounds and how it is time to take back this history, as it has been misrepresented for decades. The passion for her work is evident in talking to her.

The Cemi museum itself had great information regarding the natives who inhabited the island but especially their history in Jayuya and the central cordillera. Much appreciated was the art displays.

We spent two weeks on the island and this was one of our very...

A very small, but poignant site with three attractions: a pair of small, but well-tended Taino bateys, with a clear sign telling how they are used for worship/meditation; a recreation of an ancestress's tomb, with many artifacts and pictures of petroglyphs; and a house museum that tells the story of the non-indigenous people of the area - but only in Spanish. Separate charges of $2 per person apply for the tomb and house. The bateys can be accessed free of charge. Clean, stocked restrooms are also available free of charge Very important... It is a somewhat difficult drive over some iffy roads to get there - a little more than an...

Great place to see our Taino ancestors petroglyphs. Both museums are a national treasure. Tickets are $1 per person, quick, calm and educational walk in the museum. You can camp in the near grounds which are cool and relaxing. Enjoyable and very tranquil place!
