We stayed as Harvest Host guests and enjoyed a delightful afternoon. The staff were so welcoming and our conversation with them was easy as we shared stories. They also provided "spot on" guidance based on our preferences in selecting wines for our tasting. We liked all five we tried but were pleasantly surprised and loved the semi-dry red wine, Baco Noir. To balance out our purchase we also bought the semi-sweet Winter White...our second favorite. And of course, the Apple Caramel Slushie was a hit...even on a chilly afternoon. We had a lovely view over the fields, and the morning sunrise was spectacular!

Planned a day trip driving from West Mifflin (outside Pittsburgh) to Laurel Highlands venues. My trip included this winery. It was a beautiful weekday in October. I opted for a wine tasting of a flight of 5 wines selected from their menu for $5 and sat on their outdoor patio with tables and umbrellas to enjoy my sips. The orchard was in the background, a lovely setting against a blue sky. I liked the Tempranillo best so bought a bottle. Lovely shop, pleasant staff.

We stayed as Harvest Host guests in our RV and enjoyed a tasting we shared between the two of us that included most of their sweet wines. We had a meat/cheese tray and got some of the wine-filled chocolates and a couple of bottles to go. Our favorite was the Diamond. We also took along a bottle of the Late Harvest Diamond. They have a magnetic scrabble board on the wall - I won! Face east and see a beautiful sunrise!

On our way home from a wedding in Pittsburgh, we decided to stop for a tasting and a glass. First off, the location is great being between the two exits off the Turnpike and being directly off of 30 so you can parallel the Turnpike which means it isn't too far out of your way. Then, when we arrived, we were greeted and had a wonderful conversation with who I assume is the owner, as we completed our tasting. He was knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. The real kicker was that, when we went outside to admire the amazing view as we had our wine right after it rained, someone came out and offered to wipe where we standing on the railing down with a towel. We never asked for that so it was a pleasant surprise that someone was willing to just do it. Finally, the wines were amazing. We are sweet and semi sweet drinkers so that is what we stuck to and they were some of the best we ever had especially the cherry wine which is only made with cherries. It isn't super sweet but, most importantly, it doesn't taste like cough syrup since it is actual cherries instead of artificial stuff. They also had some amazing sangria for the summer which is worth a glass. By far the coolest thing was the wine drops they sold which is chocolate, both milk and dark, filled with some of their wine. I have never seen that before and I wanted to buy all of them. We will be stopping here again when we need to break up the trip to and from DC. I wish I could give...

Glades Pike has been known for producing award winning wine since 1995, the owners started out with other couples in a wine club making wine in their kitchens and garages. They have an excellent variety of wines ranging from Dry, Sweet and Fruit/Dessert to others somewhere in between. Surprisingly the wines are moderately priced for such excellent quality. Glades Pike is open 7 days a week, has a banquet room available for indoor events and the gazebo and winery can be reserved for outdoor events. All the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable making this experience one of the best for wine...
