Jekyll Island is a gorgeous state park, with tons to offer. There's abundant wildlife, multiple historic buildings, and multiple types of beaches. My first choice every time is the aptly-named Driftwood Beach on the northern tip of the island, where you'll find some of the most picturesque views on the southern Atlantic coast. Mosaic and the Sea Turtle Center are close by each other, and make inexpensive and fun quick hour-long trips each. The variety of restaurants on the island is decent for how small it is, and generally everything is not priced for tourism. The only place that's open past 9pm any day of the week is Wee Pub, so make sure if you're a night owl that you bring your own entertainment! There's a liquor store in the little downtown square, plenty of seating around the hotels, and beaches never close, so that's not hard. The weather is considerably warmer here year round than anything further inland, so bring yourself some shorts and tees even if the temperature is showing in the 60s - it may be lying to you 😂 You only need to pay about $15 to park on the island once as long as you don't leave again - so it makes an excellent day or weekend trip. I will say, if you're looking to do more than two days, this isn't the place. Anything more and you'll find yours quickly running out of things to do.

What an absolutely charming area. Most definitely a gem for Georgia. So clean and pristine. I don't think i can go to another beach again. We were there Feb 14-15, 2022. Weather could not have been more perfect. We didn't find a glass globe so we purchased one instead! It's beautiful and is stamped with 20th commemorative year. We saw so many live sand dollars on the beach. It was magical. We sat out for hours just enjoying the beauty. Our 5 mile walk on the beach was so nice it didn't seem like 5 miles. Go see driftwood beach. It is breathtaking. We caught the most spectacular sunset near the entrance west endn at a little beach. And our sunrise view was just as breathtaking the next morning. We stayed in Days Inn on 2nd floor- what a treat. The Turtle museum so nice. We saw them treating 2 turtles for low temperatures. The educational life expectancy guide was fun. At 5 (?) different life stations, you pick 1 of 4 choices on what a turtle might face throughout its life. At the end you find out if you make it. I did! 65 years. Husband died after 1 year 😔 give it a try. The Tiffany window was a treat to see in Faith church. Although I loved the other window best.

Jekyll Island is beautiful, and in the past has had a quieter, more laid-back vibe (more residential, less commecial) than St. Simons Island. This is still true today, though much new development on the beach has changed the feel of the place somewhat. I'm not saying for better or worse- just different than it was 10 years ago. I think the new development is both better AND worse, if you know what I mean. (It's very nice, and was needed, but I'm admittedly nostalgic for the older, sleepier Jekyll of the late 20th century, is all.) I'm a Glynn County local, and drive by the entrance to the Jekyll causeway twice daily on my commute, but get out to Jekyll itself seldom enough that it is a nice option for a quick "daycation" getaway. So close, and yet so different. It's a small world unto itself, like many islands can be. The wife and I just went out there for lunch and a Sunday drive, acted like tourists on our own turf for about three hours, and then went back home. Perfect short outing.

We loved Jekyll Island. The island is very clean and very well maintained. There is a campground, shopping, food, hotels and plenty of beach. The historic district is a great place for a walk or bike ride while looking at the old mansions. The entire island has a running/biking path around it. There are a few different places to rent bikes too. The island also has a gas station and a water park. The beach closest to the gift shops was very muddy when we came. I'm not sure if it was the time of the year or not. It is also very shallow and you can walk pretty far out without even going above your waste. Driftwood beach is beautiful but make sure to stop at the guest services (before the parking fee entrance to the island) to ask what time is best to visit. You want to make sure the tide is all the way out. This is a perfect place for the whole family and easily walked.

Best beach in GA! Super clean and newly revamped with lovely landscaping, mini golf and a glorious bike path that encompasses the entire island. The fishing pier off of the bay side is expansive with a cleaning station and a fresh bait shop. Horse back riding on the beach is $60 per person per hour. Adorable shops with affordable items for all near the beautiful Westin Hotel with a few really good restaurants to choose from! There is also a water park on the other side (but I have yet to try that).... I definitely recommend a day trip down as the parking is only $6.00 per carload for the entire day. There is also a small airport for those who can fly in... (hint, hint cuz!) and small electric rental cars as well as bike rentals! Absolutely gorgeous place full of history, family activities and fun for all!

My third visit to Jekyll Island to visit family- and the first time we took time to see it all. I’m now in love with the island and have recommended it to all my friends. Biking the island is what convinced me I want to go back and stay the week. Enjoyed all the historical buildings and stories behind it all. The beaches are splendid and Driftwood Beach is a must see. Pretty much every convenience is on the island. Highlight was the opportunity to meet and chat with a local artist Carla Price, her pottery was absolutely beautiful - and I was thrilled that my purchase could be mailed to me as we were still in middle of vacation. Overall, great place for every age-can’t wait to go back and this time also laugh it up with kids at their surprisingly big water park!
