I see alot of the bad reviews on here are not based on anything having to do with visiting the Shelton vineyard or anything to do with their wine . I have visited many vineyards in NC and to say that Shelton's wines are the equivalent ..or worse than... box wines??? You know people are just trolling or hating because of some personal vendetta. There are actually a few vineyards we have been to where a few of us have said that same comment about that particular vineyards wine ..but only in comparison to our favorite Shelton wines . I will not name those vineyards because I still enjoy going to them. They are still relaxing and I can still have a good time . Some people might actually like THEIR wines better..and that's ok! To each their own . I actually do think some of the wines I have had from Shelton's are the best I have ever had in my life. If I was a man of money ...I'd have a consistent personal stock of that 20 dollar tiny bottle of port . So so good yet you get so little . Anyway... I won't sit here and say I am deep into the wine drinking community. I wouldn't say it's a huge hobby of mine or pretend to be super knowledgeable . I will just say that I have been to many vineyards in NC and that this one seems to take the cake for me. And this isn't some hype comment review...I am not an insider or anything. I actually would not give less than four stars for any vineyards that I have been to . Vineyards are supposed to be beautiful settings with a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. You are supposed to be able to go to a vineyard and at least feel like you are seeing a little slice of heaven. I haven't been to a vineyard that hasn't presented me with, at least , those minimum requirements. I think Shelton nails all that pretty good . Sure someone can have a bad experience with staff. After all, no company gives perfect customer service 24-7. I myself have yet to experience legit bad service at this place and we go a half a dozen times or more a year. The festival's they have are great, the wine is great , the port and Franklin are great. If you want a beautiful and relaxing time and good wine (in my opinion)..there is a GREAT chance you will experience all this here. Boomshakalaka ....
Read moreThis occurred on 10/13/21. We had been to Shelton Vineyards before and decided to go back and have a Wine Flight and then go to their Harvest Grill for dinner. It was a terrible experience! The Vineyard closes at 6:00pm and we walked in at 5:20 with our little dog under my wife’s arm. This young woman came running from behind the counter yelling to us that they are closing soon and the dog cannot be in the building! We asked if we could have a Wine Flight and she said we could but reiterated about the dog. Not a good start. 🤨 My wife went outside and the clerk was reluctant to help me. She gave me 2 Chardonnay wine lists which I took to my wife for choosing the 5 wines. I brought them back to the same clerk and she remarked that because we chose 3 Reserve Wines we have to pay $35 which is the Reserve price. I said I don’t care because it was a gift to my wife. Once she poured the wine she stopped doing anything. I had to beg her to tell me which wine was which and asked her back for the wine list. 😖The only reason I am giving this review 2 Stars is my wife had never had a Wine Flight and she was in heaven! She enjoyed all 5 Chardonnay’s that she chose. But wait it wasn’t over! We walked over to their Harvest Grill restaurant and on the door there was sign that said reservations were required. There was nothing on their website that said that. I asked a hostess if they could possibly accommodate 2 and she politely said No. I’m trying hard not to lose it but I just walked away and told her I will never come back again. After we headed back to Elkin my wife called the restaurant and spoke to the manager who was very belligerent. When we inquired about reservations required not being on their website she got defensive and said they don’t update the website with that kind of information. Really! 🤬We had a nice drive back to Elkin and went to “Southern on Main” for takeout where the Staff were friendly...
Read moreHave you ever wanted to experience "A piece of heaven"? Well, here's your chance. Shelton Vineyards is located in a very beautiful area of the foothills of North Carolina in Dobson, NC right off of I-85 not far from Charlotte. The vineyards are nestled in the quiet and relaxing foothills with its own hotel associated with the Hampton Inn Properties nearby. All the rooms have a panoramic view of the mountains and the vineyards down the road. While at the vineyards you and your family/guests could partake in a tour of the vineyard grounds, the wine and cheese tasting area/gift shop and even have a lovely meal in the on premises restaurant. During the summer, there are numerous forms of activities, to include and not limited to, individual and group musical performances, dinners on the grounds of the vineyards, care shows and much, much more. If you wish to experience a beautiful and relaxing experience, I suggest a visit real soon to the vineyards. For further information, please go to their website of the same name. Sign up for their website newsletter emailed directly to your home. It is jam-backed with a lot of useful and interesting information about the facilities and what they offer. I guarantee you won't regret it. I believe that Shelton Vineyards is the best of the 50 different vineyards in the State of North Carolina. Happy Trails!
I am so sorry to report that a couple of years ago (6-2022) my husband and I re-visited the above referenced Shelton Vineyards and were terribly disappointed. I do not know if the years of the Covid-19 Virus played a heavy role or not, but the property and vineyards looked runed-down. We did not go inside the only building we saw; however, we were very sad to see the state in which this once beautiful setting has become. Hopefully, things will improve. Just wanted to update my...
