For many years we have enjoyed meals at the Harvest Grill; however, Friday, October 25th was truly disappointing. We arrived shortly after 1 pm and the restaurant was extremely busy so we went to the Winery where it was also busy. We had out of town friends with us and the 4 of us enjoyed the Winery while we waited to eat. Staff at the winery were sp professional and welcoming even though they were extremely busy. Call the Harvest Grill about 2:30 and were told to come on over. We paid for some wine and gifts and walked over to the restaurant. Waited for sometime to be seated. Our waitress said she would ask the "cook" if we could still order lunch as by the time we were seated, after 3 pm. We're told that was fine. Our bot f le of wine came, was great, along with the biscuits which were cold and hard as rocks. Two of us got the Turkey sandwiches and two got the French dip. The sandwiches were cold and the Harvest Turkey sandwiches were what looked like processed turkey with lots of cold dressing and certainly not what was on the menu. Two of us ordered potato salad which consisted of raw potatoes with a little marinade. Two got sweet potato fries also cold and no dipping sauce. Waitress was sweet, but really did not seem to care. So embarrassed as we had told our friends how great the food has always been. There were people eating when we left and also guests coming in. Hopefully they received better food. Even though we have been coming to the Harvest Grill for many years, this may have been our last time and after our experience, I certainly cannot recommend it. Will continue to recommend and come...
Read moreThis restaurant was wonderful! Ate here after doing the grand tasting across the way. The food was very good, we had the duck breast and the pork ribeye. Both were cooked nicely and tasted fantastic! I was also surprised by the pricing in a good way. I expected the prices to be $50+ per plate simply because of the setting but I was pleasantly surprised with the pricing. I will say there was quite a bit of waiting between ordering and receiving our food, but it also didn't feel like a long time. It was nice to not feel rushed, like they just wanted to turn over the tables. One curious thing we came across, we ordered a bottle of wine for our dinner, there was just my friend and I so we didn't finish the bottle. We asked if we were able to take the bottle home with us, thinking that since we are at a winery they would be able to re-cork it so we could legally drive it home. Our server took the bottle and brought it back but we found out it was just double bagged, not re-corked or made to be a sealed container (ive learned from paint and sip places that simply placing the open container in a paper bag and stapling it closed counts as sealed) So we secured it in the trunk of the car to be safe, but I would think they would take more precaution for sending home open bottles...
Read moreWe enjoy the atmosphere and wine at Shelton Vineyards but the Harvest Grill continues to be disappointing. We reserved a table there for Mother's Day lunch. The hostess and waitress were friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere there was wonderful. For Mother's Day, a fixed menu with ample appetizers, main course, and dessert options was offered. We were excited with the food selections after reading the descriptions. The food was highly disappointing. The chicken marsala was nothing more than dry baked chicken on the bone. No tenderized chicken breast and no marsala sauce. The broccoli with cheddar cheese sauce was served sans any cheese and the brie potatoes had no brie cheese. The Brussel sprouts were tasty but soft and overcooked, the pork was mostly just pork fat that should have been trimmed away, and the beef was also overcooked. We ate at 1:30 so there was no reason for the food to be so poor and vastly different than described on the menu. The menu descriptions and the actual food were vastly different. BTW, our last meal at Harvest Grill - a chicken salad sandwich last summer during a concert event - resulted in food poisoning. We will continue to enjoy the winery but will skip the Harvest Grill...
