We love Mariner Point Park, visiting several times during the COVID-19 season. It is a beautiful place to take a meal for an isolate picnic. During this last visit, forty-five minutes before sunset, we waited a park employee used a gas- blower to clear leaves from the pavilion. Then he cleared leaves from the grass around the pavilion. We sat a table at the end he had cleared and he then came back to continue disturbing the pavilion. He then cleared leaves from the playground fifteen feet away. When I approached him with a request for peaceful use of the pavilion he told me that he had been working for twelve hours and had do do this NOW. He then turned away and blew leaves from one side of the walk, to the walk, to the other side directly behind us. When we began pack up to leave after 45 minutes, he moved away. I hope that management will talk with employees about customer service. The customers pay for the park and should be permitted to use it without being harassed. We...
Read moreBusy and people need to learn how to drive their boats, but it was full of nice people who will wave to you and kick up conversations. I went kayaking for the first time, and boaters should possibly be watched here, some don't care about you or the unpoliced water ways and drive faster than they should to the channel. But we had a great time and it was beautiful! To the mariner staff...if you meant the back most path for the water to be cut off, it was, you might think about moving some of the plants back, but I could also understand not doing that. Also, just after the mariner sign and dock facing the channel and train brdige (on the water) near one of the last buyes before the back dead end path in the reeds...there was drift wood or a rock that caught my Kayak, it wasn't visible in the higher tide, and was after we made our circuit. It would be an issue for someone who didn't know about it...like me when I got caught on it on my first time...
Read moreI was in the area and found this park to take my dogs for a walk at. I was really surprised by how clean and well maintained it is. I like how the layout is very organized - in its design. It has many fishing piers away from the boats. The trail is paved and connects to many parking lots. It appears that there is a portable toilet in each parking lot. I expected them to be located in the picnic area or playground, but if you are looking for one, find a parking lot. The water was very muddy when I visited. The trail total to about 2 miles, I believe. There are plenty of trashcans which I love, since I prefer not having to carry a used poop bag around for a long time. I saw a lot of cardinals (the bird) in this park. A man walking his dog told me that there are also black squirrels in the park, but I didn't see any. The only time I saw black squirrels was in the Niagara Falls...
