Absolutely beautiful! A wonderfully lush variety of plants and trees (including multiple types of pine trees), flowers, and exhibits. There's an apple tree that's over 100 years old! Giant poppies, irises, and lillies, and so much more. With a lovely, quick walk down to the rocky beach. Don't let the modest entry sign fool you -- there is a lot to see beyond the path!

Beautiful donation-based place to visit, especially during spring and summer. Delightful variety of native and exotic flowers, trees, shrubs, and edibles. Easily accessible rocky beach, seating, and picnic areas. Playful Alaskan-Poetry-on-the-Go section (see pictures). Lovingly tended by friendly, knowledgeable volunteers. A favorite with locals and some tourists.

A still largely undiscovered gem, with national accreditation for the Primula collection. Which, for those who know, is a huge deal for such a small outfit and one established in 2008. It's an arboretum, so it's more about calmly enjoying the flora & fauna vs. 'being entertained' Quick access to walking paths and a few trails in the area. Worth checking out, doubly so if the weather...
