Man-made beach produced from the tailings of the long-gone mining operation whose ruins still stand here and are a favorite tourist attraction and local hangout. High winds make for good kite flying and, if you don't mind the sounds of float planes coming and going from the Lynn Canal, this is a fine place for a sunny day of fun and relaxation.
Plenty of space and forest as a backdrop and a splendid view of Mt. Roberts, rising right out of the ocean to stand vigil over downtown Juneau and Douglas alike.
