The Island Pub — Restaurant in Juneau

The five stars is for the bus boy Joe, one of the hardest workers I've seen in a while. Pizza was 5 stars too. The waitress was terrible and was 1 star.

Joe sat us, brought us menus, and drinks.

The waitress took our order, and seemed annoyed that we ordered just a pizza... When she dropped the food she said "enjoy" in the worst tone ever, and immediately left without even looking at us or asking if we needed anything else.

Joe checked on us during our meal twice, refilled our drinks, brought us a togo box, and then we had to ask him to have the waitress bring our check.

15 minutes of sitting there with our food boxed and when she finally came over instead she asked if we wanted dessert in a very rude tone, even though we just asked for the check... then took another 10 minutes to run the check!

It was not busy at all and we watched 2 other tables clearly waiting for their check too...

As we left, Joe thanked us for coming in with a smile on his face.

Went back for a pickup pizza later that week, and Joe quickly helped me, processed payment, and got my pizza before a server even approached me.

Did I mention Joe is 16?? Give this guy a raise and make him a server as soon as possible. Keep working like that and you'll go...

Update Oct '24 Order the "Smokin Hot Funghi Pizza" with no garlic. It's way better and a really nice combination of flavors. Also, their stout on tap was just about perfect. Great service. Jason gave great service.

Oct '23: The "Smokin' hot funghi pizza" is still a winner, with mushroom, garlic, sausage, arugula, and that subtle crowning touch of honey.

The caprese salad was fresh and delicious with a nice balsamic dressing.

The venue still has its charm, with warm colors and hard-working staff and a full happy crowd on a weeknight.

From Oct '22 Have the chowder! Incredibly flavorful salmon, stock full of vegetables, not overwhelmed by cream, very satisfying. Incredible colorful mountain views. The "hot fungi" pizza was a-a-a-mazing! Mushroom, roasted garlic, arugula and honey - the flavors work so well together. The place was busy, noisy, and had a fun atmosphere. Staff were hard-working and polite. Everything was great...

After years of hearing about this place I have finally made it out to try it! To be honest I think I was expecting more. We ordered half cheese half pepperoni pizza 🍕 Caesar salad with anchovies and their wings. Pizza was nothing to rave about - I personally liked the pepperoni over cheese. I know we ordered the most boring plain options and I see that they had more gourmet pizzas . I will have to come back to give those a try. Caesar salad was great and very huge- we barely finished it. I love anchovies on my salad but it threw me off that the plate that they came on was warm and the anchovies themselves were warm as well.. Wings were good flavor but maybe would have been better if the skin was more crispy it was soft and little soggy. Overall I am not very very impressed with this restaurant but I am willing to try it again for something different :) Service was prompt...
