This is a nature preserve in the heart of the city. It's owned by Western Michigan University. There are several access points. There are no parking lots, just on street parking. There are no "facilities" available. I would not recommend taking a wheelchair or stroller. That said, it's an interesting and educational stop for anyone, including families with children. There are brochures available at the map stations profiling the plants, birds and animals that call this area home. There are a few benches where one can sit and relax after walking or running the oval. Read moreKleinstuck is a unique little nature preserve. Although it’s smack dab in the middle of kalamazoo, it hosts a massive variety of wild birds and other critters. The deer are unsurprisingly tame, and easy to photograph. I also recommend attending the kleinstuck volunteer day, which is on the second sunday of every month. The people who run it are quite friendly! However, I do have a warning about this preserve. The trails run very close to private property. It's ~0.7 mile loop around the swamp is perfect for running, dog walks, and just enjoying the scenery. There are multiple benches for enjoying the view of the marshland, which is a beautifully preserved example of one of the most diverse biomes in the region. It is lovingly attended to by students and scientists from Western Michigan so it is always clean and well kept.
