This is a nice park for parents or teachers to show children wildlife. If you like trees they have a few interesting species that dont grow locally outside of the park. That have grown full size and look majestic in summer and winters after a big snow. Ducks and geese roam the streams edges and if you decide to take your shoes off and walk in the stream. Youll find that its shallow enough in most places to make a pleasant experience for curious minds. Sometimes you can see trout in the water by the red bridge in summer. Crawfish are under large rocks in the knee deep places. There is an albino squirrel that plays in the oak trees in fall and kingfishers dive into the streams if you look carefully. Read moreIt sucked was trying throw a birthday for a 3yr old boy who was turning 4 and pretty was told that the main part was already rented for something but no signs or anything to say it was so had to pack everything up and move to the spot that didnt have any tables or anything has to move them are selfs the grass was not mowed yet and didnt have nothing for 3 and 4yr old kids to play on my nephew witch it was his birthday heart broken and didn't understand why we even moved so they one was up set so we just left and went to his grandma to do it but didn't want to that's why we didnt in the 1st place and we had to call family members and tell them it was no longer at the park it was a bunch of bullzhit and none of was happy about it. Read moreBeautiful, historic park with a nice mix of scenery. Large open lawns, tree-covered walking paths, pretty views of Portage Creek. Gorgeous albeit tired stonework throughout, some dating back almost a century.
A few neat abandoned paths and staircases to be found amongst the underbrush. Plenty of barbecues and parking, lots of room to spread out or walk dogs. Lower-lying sections of grass can be soggy along the water, baseball diamond is unfortunately too wet for use.
Although this park has definitely seen better past decades, nothing is reaching dilapidation or real disrepair or danger. Overall it is still a very nice setting and...
