I checked the website 2 days before our planned public skating event. I double checked this after knowing Independence had freestyle that day, so was familiar with public vs. freestyle skating. I loaded up four pre-teens right after school, & headed up there all the way from Independence, in traffic. Arrived, only to be told that they were sorry, but it had changed to freestyle. (Was hoping there wasn't a crowd because the weather was nice.) Then I was given a newly printed copy of the available public skating hours. I had a VERY upset daughter, & I was extremely annoyed. But not for long!!!!! We headed to Crown Center where all 4 girls enjoyed their evening. Read moreSure the trailhead is great. It's an awesome place to walk (except for the people with aggressive dogs) but you can't safely get to the park or community center safely on foot or bicycle from the surrounding neighborhoods and there's not restroom facility w/o going to the community center.

Read morePlease exercise caution when walking the trails of Frank Vaydik Park especially in the evening hours. There is a homeless man who built an encampment deep within the park. If he sees you, he will follow you. I was with a friend here and he seen us and proceeded to follow us for 15 minutes. We lost him after that 15 mins and then we ran because we felt like our lives were in danger. I recommend going to this park with a friend or in a huge group when...
