I had the pleasure of visiting Longview Lake Swim Beach during the Labor Day Holiday. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival to find that the place was not crowded, there was plenty of room to set up a beach blanket, and the water was enjoyable to swim in. It was nice to see other families around as well and I did not feel alienated due to my race (Black). The lifeguards could have been a little bit more polite- they certainly were not customer friendly (we were not greeted as we arrived and they only talked during the money transaction). The price online was $3 however, upon entering we were told the price was $5. Be prepared and bring snacks, water or juice. Overall, an enjoyable beach area perfect for children, family...

The lifeguards don't pay attention to the swimmers! They are too busy taking selfies and talking to boys and girls they like, then to see a drowning child 15 feet from them. I wouldn't bring my family back here even if you paid me! The bathrooms are never clean and I see a staff of about 5 people standing around doing nothing. When we got there the girl at the front desk said the credit card machine was down, ok fine it happens. I run to get 20 dollars out of an atm and come back, to find out I need exact change or she can write my credit card number down and "run it later"!?! What are you kidding me!?! I am not giving ANYONE my credit card info and let you "run it later". I will not be...

I had my daughter's birthday here. Great customer service. Shore and water free of debris. Lifeguards continuously picking up trash. Great place for families. They really deserve a 5 but there's always that one person who ruins it for everyone. There was a very snooty lifeguard who worked there that kept making rude remarks when a question was asked. She also yelled at people to hurry up and finish using the hose that is provided to clean off the sand from your body at the end of the day. She literally snatched and said we needed to wait until she finished cleaning all the bathrooms. Other than that rude worker who made it clear she didn't want to work there everything...

Can you believe the last full month of summer in Kansas City is here?! 🤯End summer in KC on a high note with these fun activities: 🥳 🏈 Chiefs Training Camp in St. Joseph Missouri is a fun and free (or cheap) way to cheer on the Chiefs. Reserve tickets in advance and go early for the easiest parking. Fans can reserve a maximum amount of six tickets per practice and for a maximum of three separate practices. 🏖️ Hit the beach! We love Lake Olathe Park Beach, Shawnee Mission Park Beach and Longview Lake Swim Beach. Pack your sand toys and enjoy a family fun day at the beach. 🎡 Ride a giant indoor ferris wheel for $1 @overlandparkscheels This pairs beautifully with a trip to @oparboretum which is 12 minutes away. The Overland Park Arboretum has beautiful trails and a fun train garden for kids. This gem has cheap admission prices already but the first Tuesday of each month is free! 🚴 Bike to get some ice cream! We love biking the Trolley Trail to get @bettyraes at their Waldo location, or the Riverfront Heritage Trail to the @bettyraes City Market location. Or bike around Smithville Lake and then over to Paradise Ice Cream Parlor. SAVE this if you want to to fill your August with fun and SHARE it if you want to experience these places with friends! Which of these are you most excited to do? 😎 . . . .
