This red bridge is a neat little sightseeing destination that I don't believe many people are aware of. My sisters-in-law have lived in Kansas City for many years, and they had never heard of it. It was very interesting to see all the different kinds, colors, and sizes of locks that people have brought from all over, to forever be linked to this bridge. There is a beautifully groomed little park and stream adjacent to the bridge, and it is such a peaceful setting. When we arrived, a small group was celebrating what seemed to be a birthday party on the bridge. I thought that was a creative idea, although it made it hard for me to take pictures. Before going, we made sure to go to a hardware store and purchase a lock and a permanent marker. We bought a flat (easier to write on) gold lock with keys. Make sure you get one with keys so you can toss one in the key box there at the bridge. We also got a black permanent marker and wrote our names and the day's date, so we know how long it's been there should we ever go back for another visit. It was a fun little quirky adventure like the gum wall in WA or the license plate tower in UT. Oh, and it's free!

Pretty Park, love the bridge. Wish they would mow the trail down a little more tenaciously during all of this rain, overall pleased with coming here lately. If you see this structure and are wondering like I was, it's a spring house. I looked it up! There should be spring water or at least used to be a natural spring, that came up underneath the structure. People would use it to cool or keep cold, perishables. Also for laundry and other water needs. Look it up!

A sight to see, for sure. It would also be a fantastic place to pop in on date, day or night. My bf is from KC and was familiar with it, but I had never heard of the park, nor the bridge. There are a handful of hardware stores nearby (including Home Depot, Westlakes/Ace), making a quick stop for a 🔐 of your own to add to the bridge super easy, even on a Sunday. It was THE hottest July day, so we didn't stay long, but the Red Bridge is a MUST SEE. SO much ❤️!

Come on valentines day to lock your love, and they often times have a vendor set up with music and goods (like flowers and chocolates) that you can also buy. One year we came and they were doing prize giveaways as well. We have been adding a lock for every important milestone in our relationship, and always enjoy our visit. We look forward to bringing each kid (soon) to add a lock to our previous locks, creating a family tree. Serisouly, even if you dont plan to add a lock, this place is fun just for the walking trail, and exploring all the interesting locks here. I highly...

Very pretty bridge and a lot of locks of love. Locks are interesting memories of beautiful times. Actual park has high unprotected banks over a creek close to playground so need to watch children closely. A plaque about the area even draws kids close to playground towards an extremely high imo dangerous unsecured bank. Not a place to read while kids run unsupervised. Grounds kept well, my experience was more people sitting in cars around park than out in park but here on...
