Totally disappointed in enforcement of concert etiquette and making sure that people don't walk right down in front of you and stand, when you are front row. I asked security man right in front of me what the rules were for front row, i.e.: Can you walk up to rail and let people walk behind me or do I need to stay back and let people pass in front. He got total attitude and told me to not worry about it, unless I want to come sit in his chair. Then, three people next to me continue to get hammered and spilling beer on people and obstructing views. Asked guard again if he can just tell them to dance, shotgun beers, or whatever in front of THEIR seats. He did say something twice to a lady who continually came from 4 seats over to dance directly in front of me. After that the verbal assaults and escalating to the point of almost getting physical. I travel around seeing shows all over the US following Cody, and this was by far the most lack luster attempt by an usher of just looking out for a sober fan, that was nothing but respectful to everyone around him. After lady kicked a beer out of cup holder on the seat, without any reprimand, and soaking people I left before the encores started. I drove 4 hours to see The Steel Woods (final tour) and Cody Jinks, paid couple hundred dollars for seat, around $40 for VIP parking, only to watch the usher not have the courtesy to enforce common courtesy for those actually there for the band, the music, and the show. I have video tape of all of this and not sure if I should just blast it over the internet with my expeience, or wait and see if I get any response from anyone. Seen them two days earlier in St. Louis at the St Louis Music Park, and was the exact opposite experience. Staff was polite and did not let people invade your personal space. I certainly don't think it's to much to expect the space right in front of my chair, to be reserved for ME. That is the point of seats over having a pit area! Total waste of time any money!! To watch grown adults make that type of spectacle of themselves with an usher literally 7 feet away watching it...
Read moreI have been to over 500 sets in my life and while the show was great, this is by far the most disorganized, horrendously operated venue I have ever been to. It all begins with ticketing, something that should be made as simplistic as possible with user convenience in mind. The proprietary online ticketing service leaves little choice to the buyer by prompting only selection of a section. That's right, you don't even get to select your seat. If you are interested to learn about how to purchase tickets from this website you have never used, you're in luck! They have a webpage just for that which directs you right to a 404 error! However problems increase tenfold after arriving at the venue. By far, the worst perpetrator is the parking. When I entered the line to park, my GPSs ETA listed 7:04. I wasn't parked until 40 minutes after that. To begin, the entrance has three lanes of incoming traffic with no one directing it, a car accident waiting to happen. It is clear that whoever is managing the staff needs to be fired as employees were giving conflicting directions for where to go with no directions that there were two lanes to be driving in until about 50ft before they merged into one lane. People ended up driving off the road, through the grass and were being parked by venue staff BEFORE those waiting in line. After getting parked there is exactly one security gate for the entire side of the venue to get through causing more congestion after exiting your vehicle. Of course the horrendous ticketing rears its ugly head again because once arriving at the front of the line the webpage containing the tickets loaded, but the tickets wouldn't. I would typically expect an issue like to this to be user ended and not the fault of the venue, but considering the prior web page error from purchasing the fact the ticket webpage loaded at the venue, I'll give it 50/50. Thankfully once getting in the venue the sound is phenomenal and the views are great. I can't in good conscience recommend anyone attending Starlight Theatre again. I'd consider going to the next city...
Read moreBeen to 2 concerts at the Starlight in the last month and I love this venue! So much that im attending another on the 24th. The reason for the 3 stars is that each night i was there i was appalled with how unprofessional the security behaved. For the Alabama Shakes there was people smoking weed and I get security has to do there job but they were making such a seen running around and ruining the show for us who weren't smoking weed...after 2 songs being interrupted by this security guard I asked him if he and his team of 4 can please move away from directly in front of us this guy gets in my face yelling...I looked away but it was obvious this guy was trying to intimidate me and get a reaction outta me so he could escalate. I wasn't gonna give him the inch he was looking for to kick me out or get hands on with me but I was shocked and after seeing a security guard assault an attendees last night at the Black Keys it obviously a normal occurrence. I dont go to venues were i have to worry about large security guards assaulting me. Concerts aren't cheap and there a place for joy. The venue is beautiful and not a bad seat in the place. I bought my ticket over a month ago for the 24th so im gonna go but after that I will not be attending any more concerts at this awesome venue strictly due to the mob mentality of your security guards and there unprofessional practices. Im an avid concert goer and new to the area and its disgusting watching them treat customers with such disregard. Shame,...
