It’s a very basic and cool campground close to the beach. You wake up to one of the best views Kauai can offer. You should know though, that you can’t expect much for the price you pay, which is $3 per person a night. The restrooms are very dirty and definitely old. I have a huge recommendation to the campground owners: please install bigger garbage bins, preferably some with lid so no trash can fly out. Right now, there is only a normal-sized bin, which is way too small for all the campers, even though it gets cleaned every morning. There are a lot of stray dogs and cats that rip off the plastic bags at night in search for food. All the garbage and especially the plastic is exposed to the strong winds that come from the ocean, polluting the whole beach and creating a potential hazard of flying into the water. Please dhelp preserving Kauai's wildlife and water by fixing this problem!

Snorkeling was incredible. Outdoor showers, restrooms, and a lifeguard.

We were the first ones there at around 9am. Had to check out the place before committing to camping there. It probably would have been fine, butt we ended up not coming back. There were a couple of homeless people in the area. Also, some of the locals said to be sure to lock your car when camping there. Reviews from others also echo this sentiment. The beach itself was fine. The sand seemed more "normal" than some of the other beaches (Poipu and Kaelia have sand that is spongy when wet). There are black rocks on a far end of the beach where we found black crabs hopping from rock to rock. I've never seen a crab hop before! Like most crabs, they are timid and scuttle away when your approach them. We also found some teeny tiny little crabs that hide in holes that they dig in the sand. They zip around the beach when no one is around.

One of the more chill beaches on the island, Anahola has a lot to offer, especially for those with children. The waves here tend to be more gentle than most other beaches on Kauai, and even if not there is a calm river on the westernmost portion of the beach you can access if you want a more relaxing beach day. The sand is soft and fine, and there is a beautiful little grassy area along the aforementioned river as well. There’s camping, rowing, and bonfire opportunities here, although I didn’t experience any of those first hand. The way the beach faces east near the river mouth also makes it a great spot to see a sunrise or moonrise. A perfect spot for a calm,...
