We embarked on a waterfall rappelling tour in Kauai with da life outdoors, and it was nothing short of spectacular—a true bucket-list experience that blended adrenaline, nature, and a touch of daring. This adventure, offered by a local outfitter in the lush jungles near lihue, was hands-down one of the most fun and unique activities I’ve ever done. From the moment we met our guides, the energy was infectious. They were professional, safety-focused, and clearly passionate about Kauai’s rugged beauty. After a quick safety briefing and gear setup—helmets, harnesses, drybags—we trekked through dense rainforest trails, surrounded by vibrant greenery and the distant sound of cascading water. The hike itself was a treat, with our guides pointing out native plants and sharing stories about the island’s history. The rappelling itself was the star of the show. Descending a 60-foot waterfall, with cool mist spraying my face and the roar of the water echoing around me, felt like stepping into an adventure movie. The guides expertly coached us through the technique—lean back, trust the rope, and let gravity do its thing. Even as a first-timer, I felt secure and supported, which made it easy to soak in the thrill. The view from the rock face, with water tumbling beside me and the jungle canopy below, was absolutely unreal. What made this experience one-of-a-kind was the setting—Kauai’s untouched wilderness is a playground like no other. The group size was small, which kept the vibe intimate and allowed for plenty of personalized attention. The only downside? The tour flew by too fast—I could’ve rappelled another waterfall or two! It’s moderately physical, so a decent fitness level helps, but no prior experience is needed. If you’re in Kauai and craving an adventure that’s equal parts heart-pounding and awe-inspiring, this waterfall rappel is a must-do. It’s a story I’ll be telling for years....
Read moreWe were fortunate enough to be able to explore this beautiful island by air (Jack Harter) sea (NaPali Pirates), and land (Da Life Waterfall Repel). And WOW was this an epic way to see the land and get a feel for the beauty of the forest here. The tour starts off with getting booties so don't worry about ruining your shoes. Then you do a repelling lesson. Matt and Shiz were phenomenal teachers and made learning easy. Next off is the trek to the smaller waterfall where you climb down about 30ft. It's thrilling and gets all the jitters out. They talk you through it and we felt safe and comfortable the whole time. The next waterfall is a bit higher at around 50ft. You walk up a few steps and path up to the top. It's just absolutely stunning to be able to enjoy and explore the natural beauty of the island. They have snacks and drinks available for you and provide a dry bag as well.
Tips - They provide booties so don't worry about shoes Follow the directions they send you via email to a T and you should have no trouble finding it Wear longer shorts - you are in a harness and it can rub especially when it is wet between 1st and 2nd waterfall Book the morning if you are able - it's cooler, there are less bugs and you tend to get to see more wildlife (we saw a few native Hawaiian birds during our tour) If you have long hair, make sure you have it in a low pony and out of your way. You don't want to getting caught in anything . Wear rashguard - will help you be comfortable throughout the tour. You don't really need sunscreen but def bring bug spray
Enjoy every minute! It's an adventure of a lifetime!

Read moreYou could say I was beyond nervous for waterfall rappelling, and when I arrived it was very apparent. Renan and Matt made me feel comfortable right away, even with all of their jokes. I was so glad we did a training on a dirt wall prior to the walls. During the safety training I expressed my main concerns; accidentally letting go and going inverted. Matt was kind enough to show how difficult it was to do that and what to do if you did! Since I was nervous Renan had me go first which was the best thing that could have happened. As soon as I was off the edge I felt super safe! I absolutely loved this whole excursion, from learning about the local plants, movies that were filmed in this area and of course the waterfall rappelling! The first 30 foot falls was by far the easiest! Renan would guide from the top of the falls and Matt would be below. I never once unsafe or afraid when I was actually rappelling. The 60 foot falls was beautiful! However it horrified me to see how large it was. There are 2 ways down, you can go to the left of the rushing water or through it! I asked Renan at the top if I would regret not doing the center, he said absolutely, so I decided to go through the center “washing machine” as the guys called it! It was SO worth it! It was exhilarating feeling the power of the waves. I did slip up and loose my grip in the center but Matt had me from the bottom and I knew I was safe so I grabbed the line again and kept going! Renan and Matt were both amazing guides I do not think I could have done this without them! I HIGHLY recommend this tour!! Also recommend purchasing the photos! They turned out...
