Kahili Quarry Beach — Attraction in Kauai

Beautiful beach w backdrop of a scenic valley behind it. It is a moderate hike if you want the exercise, but most of the road is driveable. Disregard the 'Road Closed' sign at the top of the road if you have a 4 wheel drive or are a confident driver (we saw a Prius make the drive after we'd walked it). The locals obviously want to discourage visitors to the beach. Pass the 'Road Closed' sign and drive down 1/2 mile or so to some legally dubious concrete barriers. Visited briefly but it was beautiful. We drove straight to the beach (no closed road signs or people turning us away). You walk briefly through a beautiful forested area to the beach. There’s a river that widens and runs into the ocean here so you get a calm and freshwater area (looked like a small lake that would be perfect for kayaks) and also have the ocean. Shallow and calm area near where lake meets the ocean that looked great for kids to splash around. Large sandy area. Wish I could have stayed...

As another reviewer mentioned it's just closed for local strong arming. Got 1/2 way down road when a couple people forced us to turn around said it's not passable with a car... Then look at satellite view and see the mega mansion on the right side and it's clear... Someone that's got a multi million dollar estate is just deterring traffic. Understandable but just buy the road and gate it off if you don't want traffic....
