Beautiful beach. Dont follow google maps to get there unless you have it take you to the Heritage Trail, that took us to the right spot. But basically, drive past the grand hyatt and follow the dirt road as far as your car will take you. Most of the dirt road is minor and a 2wd can pull it off, but if you want to go to the end a 4wd truck is ideal. Otherwise, just park before it gets gnarly. Follow the road, it turns into a trail, and it will take you down to the beach. Theres supposed to be a cliff you can jump off down there but we werent sure which one and the ocean there was pretty rough with a lot of current when we were there (and a lot of shallow sharp coral sections) so swimming way out is probably only for strong ocean swimmers. Theres a lot of reef that protects parts of the beach there, so kids can play in waste deep water without it being sketchy, but you cant really get out to good depths for snorkeling without getting past some sharp, shallow coral. It’s beautiful down there, wasnt the best snorkeling for us for the reasons listed above, but a lovely spot to find yourself in...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful beach. Made even better since you have to do a short easy hike to reach the beach. There are multiple places along the hike to have amazing views of the beach. Note that currently Google Maps will lead you down a road that says “No Beach Access” and “Private Road”. We asked a local and he said to instead go to “Makauwahi Cave Trail” and we’d find the trail head to the beach too. He was right! Road is a little rough but accessible enough for a Toyota Camry to reach it. Beach can be rocky, sandy, easy and rough depending on where you decide to setup. Multiple beaches on Google Maps are situated here and all are beautiful as shown in the pics! Even better we saw a seal on our 2nd trip here. Don’t forget to explore the caves...
Read moreThis is a secluded (to most) beach with tidepools for easy swimming and crushing waves. It seems like a private beach, but it's not. It's confusing to get to and that's probably the reason why so few are there (so it's kind of a secret), but worth the drive! Don't use Google to find it as you'll end up on private land. Instead, head past the Hyatt and take Ainako St. It turns from paved, to gravel to basically off-road near the start of the downward trail. A car with a decent amount of clearance is preferred for this route. Once you arrive you'll have a short trail that goes past the closed gave to a beautiful...
