Minimal surf (the surf breaks on the reef several hundred yards out) so between that and no crowds, its very peaceful. Anini stream meanders lazily to the sea in its last few yards after rushing down the steep slope from Princeville plateau. Access is by Anini Rd that becomes potholed at the approach to Wylies Beach, there is limited parking. There is a steep trail from the top near the Westin Princeville Resort. West of Anini Stream, the beach is narrow; at high tide, the pacific laps at the roots of the jungle of trees on the steep slope. This part of the beach is littered with black boulders from the size of a loaf of bread to a big SUV. I found the tent encampments of several (homeless?) individuals along this stretch of beach just above hi-tide mark, but never felt...
Read moreIve been on island for over 6 years and this is One of my favorite beaches in all of Kauai.😍😎 Its protected by the Anini reef so the water is calm and shallow, ideal for small children. It also has some of the warmest waters you will find, especially in summer and fall. Great sit to watch kite surfers, hang up a hammock, picnic or BBQ, you can park right by the beach so setting up is simple, listen to the calming sound of distant reef break, you can Pattle out with a kayak or standup paddle board, snorkel, collect shells. Lots of areas that provide shade. What else could...
Read moreWorth the hike from the Westin Villas if you’re anything like me and needed to get away from all the families with their loud children playing in all 4 pools. Water was cooler being on the North Side of Kauai but crystal clear and even depth at least 50 feet out. I wore hiking boots up and down the steep red clay path 1 day after a lot of rain and only slipped twice on the clay. I found it best to step on debris rather than the wet red clay itself for surer footing.
If you’re looking for a nude beach opportunity, they don’t get much better than this very...
