My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights during a very recent vacation in Hawaii in May 2018 and we liked the place. We had a one bedroom suite and we liked how spacious it was. The suite comes with a kitchen and a laundry "room" and I made use of it in washing some of my clothes mid-way through my vacation. The hotel is also pretty close to Princeville on one side and Kilauea on the other, where I would say that the Kilauea Lighthouse is a must-see for its spectacular views. The most important reason why I rate this place highly is because we appreciated the helpfulness of the staff. Here are two concrete ways they were helpful to us. We were staying at a different hotel for our first 2 nights in Kauai (we stayed for a total of 6 nights in K.) and when we found ourselves on Anini Beach one day without towels, we came to the reception at the Wyndham, explained our situation, and got two towels from them even though we were not checking in with them until the following day. They confirmed that we were legit and then gave us two towels that we needed for enjoying a day at the beach. Second, we ran into Nathaniel at the concierge desk during this visit and he was the first one to inform us that because of the recent heavy rains in Kauai in mid-April, parts of the Napali Coast had been closed off to the public. Until then we were planning on spending a day in the beaches of that area and having the conversation with Nathaniel alerted us to these facts on the ground. Here are some things which were less than perfect and causes me to take 1 star away: 1. Parking was a bit tight. The first night we got there around 9:30, we had a hard time finding a spot. We were dead tired and I really had to be careful in looking for parking that late at night. 2. The construction of the building/ rooms is such that noise travels quite easily. On at least 2 nights, I had a hard time falling asleep because I was bothered by the walking of the resident in the floor above me. I wish there was an easy way to address it but I doubt that much could be done. 3. The hotel does not offer any direct access to the beach. Anini Beach is quite close-by but yes - you have to take your car out; you can't simply walk to the beach from here. 4. Lastly, I expect check-ins to be available 24 hrs. at a hotel. That's not the case here. Check-ins only happen until 10 p.m. and even then, when we got there by 9:30 on our first night, we couldn't complete our check-in; we had to come back the next morning to provide our IDs and credit card info. So yes - not perfect - but not a bad option either.

BUGS AND AWFUL STAFF. Our stay at this location started and ended as a complete disaster. Upon arrival, I asked about my rewards points and the front desk said they would look into it and let me know...never heard back. They even said they had no idea what Wyndam rewards were after me showing them an email. Next, there were ants covering our room. We waited and waited after calling the front desk only to be lied to that no other rooms were available. We had to keep calling back the front desk because apparently no one was trained to give a courtesy status call to let people wasting away their honeymoon stuck in bug infested room to know what to do. When we were called back they said someone could spray our room and we could get new towels...seriously? There were ants on the walls, in our sheets, in our luggage and on our bed. There was no empathy nor did it seem like the front desk cared. After talking to the GM, who actually did his job, he quickly found us a new room, gave us status updates on the progress on when to move our belonging in and ensured our satisfaction. This unfortunately was after our last honeymoon sunset and dinner plans were ruined and after we were lied to about no other rooms being available. On top of the bugs, every moment we were there, we kept getting harassed about timeshares. It was awful. We were woken up at 8am on our first morning by a phone call to make sure we would come to the welcome reception (after we told them we didn't want to attend). And AFTER the ant infestation and room change debacle, we were woken up AGAIN at 8am the next morning with the same call harassing us to come back to the welcome reception for timeshares. This wasn't a recording either. Our stay after this hassle ended up being comped, but the staff was an absolute nightmare. We were even called a week later after our honeymoon by someone on the staff asking who we did our timeshare meeting with because the couldn't find their paperwork and files. For the staff at the Wyndam: 1. have some empathy for those who don't want to be disturbed 2. pump the breaks on always trying to sell timeshares 3. let people on their honeymoon actually feel like they are being cared for and not lied to 4. get trained on hospitality 101s like courtesy calls to inform guests on the status of an issue that is taking longer than expected, we shouldn't have to waste our time stuck in a room waiting on you! 5. return with answers if you say, I will get back to you... All of these were shortcomings and made our stay here a complete disaster.

Very disappointed! We come to Kauai every summer and have only had great experiences until now. We booked our trip through American Airlines Advantage program, something we do often for travel. To our surprise, when we checked in at the Wyndham Ka'Eo Kai our accommodations were not what we had booked and paid for. When we showed them our booking confirmation they replied with, "we are full and there is nothing we can do, you will have to complain to your booking company". So we did and of course there is nothing they can do because the resort is fully booked. Now we are stuck with six people sharing two rooms and not enough beds because the spare room has twin beds. The unit is good size but the floor plan is odd, allowing for a lot of wasted space. We are in a lower unit with our patios facing the parking lot. There are numerous sliding glass doors and windows looking out to the parking lot and our neighbors. There is no privacy at all if you want to let some light in. The sliding doors are worn out and difficult to shut with screen doors falling off tracks when you try to open and close them. One of them wasn't even on. The washer and dryer are the smallest we've ever seen and are located outside the condo"s master bath in a tiny closet and it's very loud. We can hear the hustle and bustle of our upstairs neighbors as if they were in our apartment. We can even hear them using the bathroom! There is no way to sleep past 0600 when they wake, for its that loud. When we entered the condo at check-in we noticed several surfaces that had not been cleaned, especially in the bathroom (gross) and kitchen counter. Due to COVID they advertise "enhanced cleaning" but they didn't even meet standard cleaning expectations. When we checked in they forgot to mention that you have to make reservations in advance to use the pool and hot tub. Our teenagers were asked to get out because they didn't have a reservation. That's a pretty important detail to skip. We have no living space other than the bedrooms since we had to turn the living room into a bedroom. So it's like staying in a hotel room instead of a condo for 9 nights. Needless to say, we will never stay in a Wyndham resort again.

You are going to want to Read THIS review!!! We got here to to Club Wyndham on a Thursday excited and ready to explore the piece of heaven on earth. Little did my sister and I know what lied ahead. We got rental for the 6 days we’d be here. We quickly found out that parking is horrible on this property. Nevertheless we were ok with that. Conceriege was awesome(Brooke). We checked in and seen we were really close to the pool and office, as well as on the first floor. Which was nice as there are NO AIR CONDITIONERS in units. We woke the next day and our one bedroom pull out couch was stuck and would not retract. I texted the number to the front desk for convenience and I'm happy I did because of the events to follow. My sister went to the pool and I stayed behind to wait for the maintenance man and fresh towels. Before she left she removed her towel and wallet from the bed and placed it on the counter next to the bed. I said have fun and she left. My time slot was 8:30-9am. A maintenance man who was older and wear glasses arrived around 10:20a. He said he would fix the bed and I stood there for about 20 to 30 seconds watching him, until I looked at the and realized we would be late for a scheduled Kayaking excursion. So I went in my room to gather my things and I heard my front door open, I thought it was my sister so I got up, instead the older gentleman with glasses opened the door for a very young maintenance man. I found that odd and I asked if everything was ok. He said yes he was helping him. I said ok. Within 4 mins they were leaving. i asked if everything was ok and they smiled and said yes. Sister came in and we left out, she then realized her wallet was on the counter when she went to pay. We went right back to the room to get it. But guess what?. IT WAS GONE!! HER PASSPORT, HER ID, HER CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS. We looked everywhere in the room although we knew it was the one of the men in the room. We notified the manager on grounds and we called the police. The first manager, a gentleman named Michela was nice and helpful to try and rectify the situation. The next morning there was a different manager named Lilly who unsympathetic and unhelpful to our situation. She sided with the workers saying we had no proof, she wouldnt give us the maintenance men names on their name tags because she stated that there priority was to protect their employees. I said well what about us a customers who pay into this ownership monthly. But she didn't care. It was very disheartening. She then told me NOT to contact them about the matter anymore and to speak to the police. It was heartbreaking. We felt unsafe onowning they could enter our room whenever they wanted byt we could not when know their names. The general manager of this property(Kanani) agreed with Lilly and how she handled us and the situation. Which was shocking! So we decided to cut our vacation short. We had to pay to change our flights, over $400 and lost money with our rental as we returned it early and refunds are discretionary. She has to bow buy a new passport and ID, go through extra security to get home. Yet we were treated like the suspects. Maybe it was the color of our skin or maybe Lilly was involved with stealing items from people. i don't know. But the proof we had was that within hours someone used her card in an online purchase in ARIZONA!!! While we were sitting at Club Wyndham in Hawaii. I'd suggest stay somewhere else and being treated better. PLEASE! And this has happened...

Not for young kids!

Cons (for studio): No Airconditioning. Beds are very small. Don’t clean rooms Roosters and Roaches Rude night staff Not kid friendly

We booked a 2 bedroom suite and a studio at this hotel. The pictures of the hotel match what we saw of the grounds and the pool. What didn’t look similar was the studio. The size of the studio is a lot smaller than advertised. The bed (advertised as a queen) was definitely NOT a queen size but more like a double twin. We asked if we could get an additional cot/rollaway bed instead of a pack and play for our child, we found out that they do not have those at this property. Upon asking if we could pay for an upgrade to a larger room with a pull out bed, we were told that they do not handle any reservation changes at the front desk. Quite unlike, any other hotel or resort that we have been to. We were asked to call Extra Holidays (number listed on google for this property) and they could not get through to the front desk. I handed the phone to the person at the front desk and despite several requests, nothing was done to help. We were given a mattress topper and some sheets, which we somehow managed with. The dingy room with intermittently broken toilet flush and a cockroach found in the closet was apparently need for an upgraded. The room left much to be desired.

The lack of air-conditioning warrants that windows must be left open or the rooms do get stuffy. The fans are helpful with the windows open. However, the open windows mean there is no noise insulation or privacy because you or your neighbors can hear everything. On the second night our toddler had a night terror and within minutes we were threatened by security to leave the property because of screaming neighbors. While we are fully aware of the inconvenience a crying toddler can cause, the lack of empathy or even a suggestion of possibly relocating temporarily to a space that is more distance from residents was appalling. Not sure when threats to paying guests became an acceptable part of customer service. Ironic that roosters constantly crowing since 4 am throughout the property is not dealt with but a crying child can be threatened to silence.

Another good thing to know is that the rooms/bathrooms do NOT get cleaned during your stay as with a regular hotel. You will however be given a vacuum so you can clean the room yourself.

Aside from a few pleasant encounters (Sarah from housekeeping was great), we were so ready to leave this place. Unfortunately it ruined the first half of our vacation in Kauai and we do not recommend families with young kids to visit...
