My daughter needed to see a play for a school assignment, so we decided to check out The Addams Family at the Hopebox Theater. We had never been here, and the theater is tiny, so our expectations werenât very high. Our main focus was just to get her school assignment finished, but we ended up getting absolutely blown away!
On October 14th at 7:30pm we saw The Addams Family and it was the best $36 Iâve spent in a long time. The acting was fantastic and the energy was great! Everyone was in character 100% of the time (even before the play and during intermission). The stage and theater are small, but they made it work. We were so close to the stage and the actors that we felt like we were really there and not just watching a play from a distance. We were completely drawn in and forgot we were there for my daughterâs assignment.
They have bathrooms and a place to gets snacks and drinks during intermission. It was a long play, so a bathroom break, a leg stretch, and snacks were needed :)
My daughter really wants to see another play here and so do I. Not only were they phenomenal, but they support a good cause. Their motto is âBringing Hope to Families Battling Cancer through the Performing Arts.â They are one big fundraiser for people battling cancer.
Go support them! My daughter and I will...
Read moreI am so grateful to everyone on the Hopebox Theatre team for creating such an unforgettable, magical experience for my sister-in-law and her family as she struggles with the effects of cancer. The people at Hopebox showed such love and attention to detail in every aspect of the production. They made a genuine effort to know my sister-in-law and her family, personalizing the experience with thoughtful gestures and gifts. I have watched many productions of Fiddler on the Roof over the years; however, this will forever be my favorite time seeing the play because not only was the production beautifully executed, but the spirit of love that emanated throughout every aspect of the evening was so powerful. As someone who lost a parent to cancer, Iâm deeply touched by Hopeboxâs mission to bring light to those affected by this disease. I canât thank them enough and look forward to...
Read moreThis is a small community theatre dedicated to donating a portion of proceeds from a show's run to a person dealing with cancer. The theatre is located in Kaysville on the frontage road parallel to the freeway. Parking can be tricky - the lot is not very big. I've only seen one production there so far - 9 to 5 - and it was entertaining. Actors come from various backgrounds and stage experience. Two banks of seats flank the smaller stage. Theatre goers really get into the show! Audience etiquette is "looser" than one would experience in other established theatres. After our show (closing night), there was a meet and greet in the lobby. HBT is fun and...
