This is a great place for a walk. The area is mostly wooded with mostly native riparian forest vegetation, plus enough invasive blackberries for a summer treat. There is some poison oak, but it is easy to avoid if you are mindful of it.
There are three trails: north, south, and west up the steep bank. If you walk all 3, plus loop the west side of the field to the north, it's 3.4 miles.
The Fall leaves are pretty, especially on the trail north.
There is a pit rest room. The State Park service does a good job maintaining the area.
The area is also of geologic interest. The Missoula Floods, 13,000 to 15,000 years ago, washed in a layer of soil about 200 feet thick. The steep drive down to the parking area takes you from what is now the top of the deposit, down to where the Willamette River...
