Hematite Lake — Attraction in Kentucky

This is such a beautiful area. The trail around the lake is amazing! It is around 2 miles and it is mostly flat and very well maintained. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The boardwalk is such a unique feature to this trail. Being able to walk over the water is such a nice change of pace. There is a nice parking area at the trailhead with picnic tables and a restroom. The trail is conveniently located near the nature station, elk and bison range, and the planetarium. We will definitely be coming back...

Enjoyed a nice hike with our kids here and got some great shots of nature at it's finest. There is an outhouse at the entrance and quite a few picnic tables as well. I would definitely recommend visiting but just be careful because we did come a few snakes on our little hike. I have no idea if any of them were poisonous but we were just very careful to stay out...

Love this trail and LOVED kayaking there a few days ago. My only issue is that the boardwalk has been closed for over a year and still looks like no improvements have been made. Fingers crossed it will be back open this summer! Update: Boardwalk is open and me and the family couldn't be happier!...
