Great place to visit. The reef is totally off limits to people on foot. But most peop keep disregarding the posted signs and walk and snorkel it. Snorkeling is ok as long as you are not walking and touching the reef. From a boat you can ocationaly see the snorkeling and kyyak shop drive a golf type vehicle on the reef to take photos of things they have for sale. Totally illegal for them to drive on it but I also see daily if you care to look the park department drive their vehicle on the reef in the mornings and occatinaly later in the day with total disregard for the posted signs they pisted to stay off the reef.
So do not take stuff there you can not carry out and trow in approved trash containers within the park. Too many people leave beer glass bottles , wine bottles cans plastic wrappers you name it.
There are posted signs. Please heed them . Do not walk onto the reef. Do not leave, trash behind. I wish they had someone to watch over these issues specially the park department own use of a heavy motorized vehicle on the limited shore and on the reef. Just sinful. Yet they put up the signs to keep off the reef but instead continually negatively impact it by daily driving on...

When this place doesn’t have these MIAMI annoyances, this is an amazing...

However if you take this trail you will end up on a lookout point that is high and fenced off and you cannot get down to access the fossilized reef to look at it or walk on it. The lookout point is lovely. Moral of the story- good hike, but you can’t access the reef which is...
