This is a fun, short, and easy trail that leads to a beautiful waterfall! Hawk Falls trail is great to do with kids and pets. The path is pretty clearly marked, well paved with a bridge to cross along the way, and doesn't really have any super rocky areas until you get to the falls. However, there are some areas with loose gravel and large tree roots, but they're easy enough to step over and pass. There's a lot of beautiful scenery along the trail, with a few views of the streams/ creeks.
It's well maintained and kept clean, and there are two large parking lots about 50 yards down the road before the entrance, with other trails near by (would love to explore some of those one day!). I didn't notice any restrooms / porta potties or trash bins, unfortunately. Would have been nice if there were some in the parking lots, maybe.
We came here during Memorial Day weekend (2023), and it was pretty active! We encountered a lot of people on our walk, all doing different activities throughout the trail. As busy as it was though, there was plenty of parking available and it didn't seem crowded, which I think is great! When we reached the falls, we even saw a couple getting professional pictures taken of them for what I assume was their engagement shoot, right in front of the falls. They looked amazing, and I'll bet those pictures came out beautifully. đ
It's a bit of a drive from where I was staying in PA, but if I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely hike this trail a second time!
Decent sized trailhead with plenty of parking available. You'll need to walk along the road a short distance to get to the actual start. The path was very easy and well marked. Even in the rain, it was manageable. Once you get close to the bottom, the trail passes through some trees, so be aware of low clearance and more mud. When we went, there was only about 3 other people we passed along the way.
Be advised, they have signs that are quite clearâyou're not allowed to climb, wade, or swim at the waterfall (helps protect you and...
Read moreThis scenic trail is perfect for a family walk as it winds through peaceful woods, follows alongside creeks, and takes you up and down gentle mountain paths. It all leads to a stunning 25-foot waterfall at the end. If youâre looking for more of a challenge, the Orchard Trail offers a tougher experience with steep elevation and a longer, more demanding route. It is definitely not for the faint of heart. Whether you choose the easier path or the intense one, itâs an incredible escape from the stress of...
