Review based on visit in Jan 2021. If I had a rating option to rate the employees that my path crossed with I would have rated them 10 stars. My review of 3 on 5 is due to other reasons which I have listed below. Some of the items I listed might seem like a repeat from other peoples review but my intent is to just confirm that same. I observed it and so I write about it. Rather than address my critical observations to any particular employee or management, I choose to address it to resort owners.
First the things that went well. The mountain snow condition was 5 on 5 fun. Did not look like the resort owners skimped on spending money on snow making. I had some issue with my epic pass and the customer service was prompt to resolve issue. Ski patrol did a very thorough check on the mountain at closing time to make sure no one is left behind. Free and ample parking.
This that could be improved upon. The lifts. The lifts at the mountain, might be older than the mountain itself . No pun indented. Constantly backed up, slow moving, 2 seater lifts. It is a great mountain and I can't see why the owners wouldn't spend money to upgrade the lifts. The slopes were not at all crowded and yet the lifts where backed up. I can only imagine how bad things would get if more people showed up.
The lines could be managed better. While the resort owner is not spending money on upgrading the lifts, they could at least make things a little better by making sure that more employees are present to do basic crowd control at the lift loading area. Even with masks on, it was very easy to see the frustration that people experienced as they saw people cutting lines. After the nth time it just take the fun out of the time on the mountain.
People drinking on the mountain. Beer and liquor containers laying around ever where and people drinking on and slopes.
The cafeteria had just bare minimum food options.
Thanks to all the employees for their effort to run a safe operation. Sincere request to resort owners to invest some of the profits to make upgrades.
It is a great mountain unique mountain that could be a 5 star experience for beginner and...
Read moreOne of the worst skiing experiences I have ever had. I have never been treated to such poor customer service as I experienced a few weeks ago. I will start this off by saying I have been involved in the ski industry most of my life and for the past 25yr I have been a professional ski instructor. My family and another family made a 2.5 hr drive for a day trip to ski at Jack Frost. Between our 2 families we spent over $1000 in lift tickets and the rental equipment needed for our friends. We were met with staff that seemed to hate their jobs, where rude and overall not welcoming to anyone. No less then 3 time throughout the day i was yelled at by 2 Snow sports school staff and one other time by an non Snow sports school staff. The 2 instructors where in there Blue Jack frost teaching jackets and the other was wearing a black Jack Frost jacket with bright green lettering. Not hard to identify that you work at the mountain! This happened as I was helping my son up after a fall demanding that we get out of the middle of the run as they skied by. None had the awareness to stop and check on the fallen skier or provide any assistance. This type of behavior would never be excepted at my home mountain. We teach all our staff to interact with our guest offer assistance where needed and if a person has fallen in a bad area stand above to direct people safely around the fallen person. This simple act can make a bad experience a memorable one for all the right reasons. I get being short staffed but to have only 1 lift running that service your beginner area and having to wait 45min in a lift line is insane. The rental shop was a mess and took our friends over an hour to get through whats the point of booking and paying well in advance if this is the way it is run. I will give a huge shout out to David one of the mountains Adaptive snow ports instructors he was the only person that I meet that day that smiled and was engaged in small talk while helping in the lift lines. I have put this out publicly for everyone to see after several emails to the mountain have gone unanswered since our...
Read moreTerrible experience with the staff! This was my first time snowboarding and the moment I stepped into the building with my group, the staff behind the counter were yelling and rushing us to get out (we didn’t know where to go). We then went to the rental side only to be told to go back to the place with the tickets in order to get rentals. The staff were rude and condescending towards us. There was no help or instructions on how to put on the snow boots/board. A random staff who saw us struggling in the snow decided to give us some tips(so friendly! My only positive experience with staff), which was very helpful and wouldve been appreciated if we got that while we were getting our rentals. Once we got the hang of it, we wanted to try the ski lift..only to find out there was also no instructions on how to get on and off for beginners. I had no clue there was a bar I had to put down until I got to the end and saw a sign that said “raise your bars up”. That was alarming. Upon leaving, the staff in the rental section yelling at us for trying to exit through the same exit doors as we did earlier in the day. We were told this exit was closed and to use the one around the back and to go “to your left and it should lead us to the parking lot”. As we were walking out, we noticed staff laughing at the comment made out loud to us that we “should treat it as if we were at a supermarket. It’s a one way” (while she made hand gestures to exit). Her directions were incorrect and unsafe, it led us to the side of the building where we would have to walk down snow that had no path. We took the steps down through the building, only to find out that same exit we were trying to go through earlier was being used by other customers. This didn’t seem fair or made any sense since we were told we couldn’t go that way. Besides the rude staff, I had fun learning on my own with my group, but I wouldn’t come back or recommend this...
