This is a great hike and can be started at the top or bottom. It's definitely not a trail for those without stamina although the trail is not rough or steep, it is overall a good climb. If in doubt, park at the visitor center at the bottom and ride the shuttle up. Than walk the trail down as it's easier. Bathrooms at top and bottom, only nature in between. Not a good trail for small children, but energetic elementary kids will do fine. Lots of trees, a few creeks and a few wonderfull overlooks along the way. For a solitude walk come immediately at opening, catch sunrise if possible, it's a...

Great trail that winds up Pilot Mountain from the Visitor's Center to its iconic rock formation at the top. We started in fog and as we hiked we rose above the clouds. Could see Hanging Rock and it looked like an island floating in the clouds. This was our first hike of 2023 and got a First Hike sticker from its awesome...

Mixed bag. There were some beautiful spots along the trail with some gorgeous flowers. However, there was also a spear of rebar sticking out from the ground which was out-of-place and potentially dangerous. Also, there was a massive amount of horse poop along one section of the trail. Watch your...

Excellent trail that takes you from the visitors center, past the campground and picnic areas, all the way to the summit. 4 plus miles each way. Stock up on water at the beginning and end. Lovely views, strenuous, perfect day hike.
