A great place to get away from the not too far life, unless your really traveling from afar. A local favorite for camping and recreation. I can primarily speak for the camping only. I have not stayed in the cabins or enjoyed the other amenities, besides getting in my friends' boat from the rented slip. Usually it is a camping trip or a day use trip for me. The campsites are dirt and pine needles/branch pieces/pine cones for the most part. Some are larger than others and some tent only. There are regular restrooms with cold water "near" a site near you and some with showers I've been told. Bring your quarters though. That is a form of currency in the USA made of round flat metals with previous presidents on them and is worth .25 of a US dollar. I'm not sure how long a quarter lasts time wise in a shower when used in said showers, so bring the piggy bank. My friend spent to many but didn't give up the water or time. Also, know this. You'll probably step in some pitch (pine tree ooze or sap) at some point or get it on something. The price you pay for enjoying the great outdoors. There are many trails for walking, hiking & biking and plenty of shores to stake for your own for the day. A great natural lake that can be very busy and choppy. Not only from boaters, skiers and jet skis but also the wind. I did see a wind surfer this last time. Oh, and bring all the safety needs for any water craft whatsoever. This lake is totally monitored. No life jacket/whistle (on a paddle board)...$256 or $265 fine. Check your check...

First, this is a 5-plus EXCEPT for the 'rule lovers' that take this to another worldly EXTREME! Not everywhere! The people at the Lodge are AWESOME and although they have their rules, they know how to enforce them with a caring, kind and courteous manner that makes even me (I hate rules!!!) except them. The camp hosts are TERRIBLE and seem to just totally dig being MEAN! I'm not kidding. That is the lack of the 5 star. The lake is the classic mountain lake. Pristine baby. Clear water! Camp sites, although close to each other, are beautiful. Plenty of access to the lake. fabulous hiking and biking trails. Oh, great food at the Lodge. Outdoor live music with a great BBQ Saturday's in summer! Kid friendly. Kayak, SUP friendly. Water sports too. Place has it all. One hour from everywhere, Ashland, Medford, K-Falls, Freeway... Boat launch areas, swim areas, day use area. And, there is a trail from a place called the Big Meadow, to Lake of the Woods, to Fish Lake and on to Hwy 37 at the N. Fork of Little Butte Creek that is SPECTACULAR! Lava beds, Mt. Mcloughlin, cedar, Doug Fir, pine, spruce, 2 lakes, a BIG meadow, interpretive signs, parking, bathrooms, those cute little chipmunks, birds, eagles and a night sky FULL of stars and...and...and...yes, this place is a wonder and you (yes,...

First off, this place is beautiful and well kept, and most of the staff are super! Only writing this review because of one bad customer service experience the owners should really be aware of.

We had reserved a boat (which was already very expensive) on a day in late April that turned out terrible - temperature got down to near freezing and it was pouring down rain. There was literally NO ONE on the lake. They have a large posted "no refunds due to weather!" sign behind the register so we decided to try and go out for an hour or so anyway to try and get something for the money. We were told we could take the boat out at noon, so around 11:30 we put our cooler and rods on it and then went back to the restaurant to wait. On the way back out to the boat near noon I was waylaid by an employee (a small, shaven-headed person), who proceeded to sternly lecture me for putting our belongings on the boat before departure time.

Yes, this is a reasonable thing to ask. I will point out again, we were the ONLY people there, so stopping me and lecturing me in the pouring rain for trying to get a jump start on a $200 boat trip is nuts. All of the rental boats were there unrented, no one else was waiting. Pissing off your only customer for the day before they go out for an already ruined trip is just terrible...

Wow! Talk about a hidden Gem in oregon. This is a full blown resort. There are 2 restaurants, multiple boat docks, 2 general stores and 3 different camping areas. Ive been here in the winter and summer and its so beautiful and clean. You see pride of ownership at this place all over. The staff is helpful and friendly. Such a great place. They even offer cabin rentals and watersport rentals. The fishing is fantastic and the water is refreshing and clear. They even have a public beach area with chairs and a floating doc to play on. There is so much to talk about here. I love lake of the woods and our family will be making this place a regular stop when we are in the area.

This is a slice of heaven for me. The viewpoints of Mount McLaughlin and the surrounding trees enclosing the lake are pristine. There’s all sorts of motorized water vehicles as well as kayaks and paddle borders taking advantage of the large lake area. If you’re coming from the valley, The temperature is 10° less than what you normally have in Medford. This is a simple nice sweet go to for locals, and a destination for those who can afford the steep vacation rental cabins. As much as I can I come out to this lake because it is near enough for a simple drive and yet completely away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
