City of Knoxville does a poor job in maintaining this park in particular the bathrooms. It's a well-used park and a great place to park and Hike or walk or bike from or run from. The water fountain drain out by the street has been plugged and I've called numerous times last year and this year and they never fix it right. The water fountain out by the road is great to have on what is adjusted properly and squirts out over the fountain drain. Bathrooms are often dirty and run out of toilet paper. Parking lot is deteriorated and numerous complaints have been made and they still don't want to do anything about it particularly the washed away gravel and drop off where your car can bottom out. Fence post get knocked over and no one else seems to call in but me to get them fixed.

Needed to make an update slightly and say that the city has now got a great way to maintain the running walking path in the median up from the park all the way to the top of Kingston Pike on Cherokee boulevard. The larger stones and humps in the path in the crust Stone seems to be keeping things from washing out. Nice job public service! The park at the bottom still needs work with some gravel or fill or blacktop is cars bottom out or hit on the roots of trees that are exposed. The parking lot in general could use some good maintenance. Obviously the wooden 4x4 post and cables get banged over and it just takes a driving through during the daytime by a public service official to check those out and get them repaired. Seems like the bathrooms have been better maintained over the last year in the times that I've gone there with ample toilet paper, etc. Again one can't go in there 24 hours a day as a city official to maintain it but improvements seem to...

It's a beautiful, clean park with restrooms and drinking fountains (even for dogs) installed at the West end that are available to the public. There are also plenty of small access points along the water, fun trees and hide-outs for kids to enjoy, several park benches along the trail, and large open fields for frisbee, dogs, kites, picnics, and large outings or sports. Given the sheer size of the park, it's also never overcrowded.

I'm not sure where the very bitter one-star review came from, but it sounds like a particular experience drove someone to exaggerate their entire perception of the park. While a number of dogs do go off-leash at times, it's not a dog park, and they're very well-behaved or their owners do get words from the rest of us, AND animal control; they patrol periodically, and they give warnings to well-behaved off-leash dog owners and citations to anyone causing trouble. A few land mines can be found out in the fields or if you're walking through the brush, but the trail, parking lots, and picnic/play areas are generally clear of such problems, and the community typically picks up after those few who don't.

All-in-all, it's one of my favorite quite places...

Beautiful park right outside downtown Knoxville. It runs along the river with areas to picnic, relax, walk/run.

I had some time to kill so went for a walk along the river. It was a beautiful sunny day and there were a lot of couples picnicking.

On this particular day, I saw some people hiding behind some trees spying on one of these couples. Next thing I know the guy gets down on one knee and proposes. His gf, now Fiancé, bursts into tears with joy. The people hiding then jump out to congratulate her and she is so shocked and happy. I scurry along not to get in the way of the moment so be careful for all those...

Lovely hidden park in the heart of the city of Knoxville. Beautiful tall and big green trees and stunning lake. The landscape is amazing in this area. This park is in a very high end residential area. They have many interesting and unique sculptures and a round about with a fountain which is lovely to see. The grass is usually wet in the morning so shoes will get wet. Also love the small rock sittings made there on a trail which is on the wide divider(you need to go there to see what I’m saying). A must go place for a good morning’s walk if you live in Knoxville.

Really nice park by the river. You can walk on the gravel walking trail, or through the grass right next to the river. Open year round. There are three different parking lots, but only one has bathroom facilities. There is a boat ramp at the middle parking lot where you can launch canoes, kayaks, or standup paddle boards.
