We went for a hike on Grandads Bluff Trail or Park. I haven’t been up here in a long time. The trails were very easy in length and not as wide as I would like but fine for single file hiking. We parked at the top of Grandad Park, walked to The Alpine Inn and hit a few trailheads on the sides of the road. The trails could use some better labeling or even markers to notify those in the park there are other trails on the side of the road. We just happened upon a few trails by accident. We had no idea there were other trail paths in the area. We hiked about two and a half miles according to my GPS. The park is more than family friendly for children and pets. We got lucky and saw a few deer on the trail which excited the hikers in the area. Once you finish the trail you eventually end near the top of Grandad’s Bluff where you are greeted by an old stone like fortress, an overlook of the city LaCrosse with public binoculars should you wish to pay for the panoramic or increased zoom view. There is also a walkway closer to the edge of Grandads for more scenic views of the area if you wish. The park has a public bathroom with drinking fountains, packed with scenic views and a must see in the LaCrosse area. The road getting up Grandad’s has many twists and turns for great views off to the side as you drive. Be mindful of the road as some drivers are not paying as much attention to other drivers as they should. It’s a great way to spend a few hours if...

Nice tourist spot to get a great view of LaCrosse. Nice drive up to the top. There is a nice lookout point and adequate parking as well. There are a few trails for hiking, and on a clear day, it's a great place to get a few nice photos over looking the city.

Unfortunately, it was a bit overcast the day I went, but I managed to grab a few salvageable photos despite.

I always see college kids hanging out in groups with their hammocks just having a great time. The city maintains the cleanliness of the bluffs, and I've never felt unsafe while visiting.

Great place for beginner hikers.

If you have a sports car, I wouldn't recommend it to do this drive at this time due to the conditions of the road and also everyone should take the pitch into consideration...

Grandad Bluff Park is the perfect spot to stop when traveling I90 highway. The park is easy to access and is free entry. The best views can be seen from the top of the park where you have unreal views of the valley below. The park offers many beautiful viewing areas that showcase different sights. There is also a walking bridge that takes you out to a thrilling view point. There are also spots for picnicking and relaxing. I would suggest reading the informational signs that explain the area’s history. Parking at the top can be difficult as there are maybe 20 spots available. Getting to the top may take awhile depending on traffic too. I would recommend all travelers to stop here for a rest when traveling on the great...
