2023-07-22: I went to Ichetucknee State Park, South Entrance. The gate was open before 8am, the entrance fee was $6.00 per vehicle. I wasn't able to get a tube or a pass to ride the tram until after 8am. They have an electronic tablet to sign a waiver and to list an emergency contact number. There are a variety of different tubes available to rent. With a tram pass, you can ride the tram for the day, and they drop you off upstream. The general store sells various supplies that may be needed. The general store also has a grill where you can order breakfast and lunch. I didn't actually time each float down, but it was probably an hour and a half. I floated down three times. There are quite a few sunken trees and limbs, and I sustained a few bruises. The rocks at the exit point are very slippery, so use caution when exiting. While floating, you can see herons, egrets, turtles, some wildflowers, and much more. I wish I had a waterproof camera (just ordered one). The photos I posted were taken with my non-waterproof Nikon along the...
Read moreWe visited the park last May 21, 2024, a few days prior to the Memorial weekend, and got there around 0900. I felt so blessed because we were the only ones tubing for about 95% of the time. This was my first time tubing here, and I was so grateful that I was able to experience a tranquil journey. It made me feel so connected with nature, and I hope that when you decide to visit the place, you will get to enjoy it with fewer distractions or interruptions 😊
FYI: Be careful and be on a look out for gators. We saw one and shared the picture 📸. I hope it's clear enough and you can identify it 🧐. Moreover, 🤔 I would encourage you to take the tram because it is a long hike to and from the springs if you don't 😉
Remember to click the like 👍 ❤️ so I will know to continue posting this kind of experience. Better yet, follow me on my...
Read moreBring shoes to wear for the walk from the river back to the parking lot. You may go in thinking, I don't want to have wet shoes, I don't want to loose them or that you won't need them. You absolutely will, the hot Florida sand will eat your water sodden pruny feet up. You will step in tree sap. Then have fun walking across hot asphalt of the parking lot. For the love of your feet please bring shoes for the walk back.
We had so much fun the last time we went tubing. We went with a large group and some of the kids in our group had never been floating. We went on a weekend and the river was crowded. Beware of fallen logs in the river, we left with a couple bruises. Would...
