Florida's best attractions are its beautiful springs and this one is in the top 5. Best spring for kayaking, canoeing and tubing with water so clean and pure, you can drink it. Natural wildlife abound,, especially for early kayakers and canoeers from the headspring.
Park has shuttles and trams that get you and your gear upriver, from the South Point (park here & buy tickets) to the midpoint landing (tubers) OR furthest north to the headspring (kayakers, canoeers and swimmers...no tubers currently allowed to go downstream from here). At the takeout point (downriver from Southpoint) they'll bring you (with a purchased tram ticket) and your gear back to the Southpoint, where you bought your tickets and where your car is parked. Nice concession stand and gift shop. Restrooms at all tram and shuttle stops.
Good on-site Cafe. Lots of good places to eat in the area and other natural springs options nearby to explore. Overnight accomodations and eateries dot the small towns in the area with hotels and major grocery stores near I-75. Be sure to visit the State's website for current info on this park and plan to arrive at or before opening time in the summer, as this park can quickly fill...
Read moreTo sum things up, a cup of tap water costs nearly $2.... They charge you money for everything, they have an insane amount of rules that they don't tell you about until you're about to break a rule. (bring your own tubes, use north entrance). We brought our own tubes which apparently met we had to go to the north entrance, but the lady at the gate didn't even inform us of this even though we clearly had the tubes strapped to the top of the car. Food is expensive, it cost $8 to ride in the van to the north entrance, It cost $3 for them to keep your keys, their tube rentals are over priced compared to the off-site shop.
Also no alcohol allowed and you can't bring bottles of water on the river (pollution).
This place is great if you want to spend a ton of money to float down a river...
Read moreThe river in itself is an incredible experience. Customer service was awful. We had a floating island to fit 6 people. We have done it before. No signs anywhere about any float regulations, and all of the sudden they are not allowed. Signage would be helpful. So we went and rented some outside the park. Now...they nickel and dime tou with the tram rip off. $10 per person to take you to the parking lot. PER PERSON!!!!!!REALLY??? If you walk it is a desolate, out of the way, far from anything trail in which heaven forbids somerhing happens to someone. You would die. No rangers, no benches, no people. This was very upserring because it's such a rip off and a...
