We camped here for a couple of nights. The sites are large and clean, and the beach access is great. There is a pretty and well-maintained cactus garden that we enjoyed walking through. The proximity to the city is convenient; this campground has the strongest mobile signal of any campground we have been in during this trip!
What we really do not like are the showers. The restroom/shower buildings are clean, but the set-up of the showers is problematic in a couple of ways.
Each building has six separate rooms; two with just toilets and sinks and four with toilets, sinks, and showers. There is no barrier between the shower and the space with the toilet. Not even a curtain, just a gutter. Since the door locks, this does not create a privacy issue, but it does result in mixing the shower space with the toilet space in a way that prevents a "clean" feeling about showering.
In addition to this issue (which, arguably, may be our own "hang up"), there is virtually no place to leave your "stuff" while showering. There is one hook on the back of the door, but no seat, no shelf. The toilet cannot even be used as a place to keep clothes clean and dry because they have no lids.
Looking around us, our camper van is the smallest unit in the campground. Undoubtedly, most people shower in their own RVs, but if a campground is going to provide showers, it really should provide useable showers.
We are wishing we had showered at Love's...
Read moreJust got back from our 3rd year in a row staying here. Wonderful, spacious RV sites on the lake, but the "improved" restroom facilities were a complete fail. Gone are the "Men's" and "Women's" sides of the building. Now there are individual rooms, most (but no all) with showers, toilets and sinks. To operate the shower, there is a button on the wall that you push to start the water. It times out in about 30 seconds, then you push it again. I saw no "hot" or "cold" controls - just a knob that changed the flow source from above your head to about waist high. I had about a total of 1 minute of warm water before it went cold. There are no shower curtains, so you are in about an 8 x 12 room trying to get a warm shower. Since there is no dump station at your RV site, you'll be filling up your gray tank pretty fast if you want a hot shower. Now for the sign next to each door. These rooms are non gender specific - I get that. But does each sign REALLY have to say, "This restroom may be used by any person regardless of gender identity or expression."? Come...
Read moreNice Lake! Nice view! We were about 200 ft away from the water. I only give 5 out of 10 rating due to the fact its just a place to park and get electric/water. That is actually pretty good for a state park, but higher ratings are for reserved for parks that offer more at comparable prices. If the park only charged $20, I'd say that would be a more fair price for what it offers. Again, nothing wrong with the park itself..clean bathrooms and showers. If you don't tow a vehicle, be sure to have bikes as there isn't any close places to go eat. You can walk, but if you go out for dinner, you may not want to walk all the way back...especially in the dark. There is a cut through that is a small bike path to help you out. There is also a boat ramp if you have a boat, right at the sites. Which also means it is loud during the day with boats go by...very loud at times. But again, all depends what you're there for. For us, it served it's purpose. Personally, I think they are a bit pricey for what they offer...comparable to other...
