Big appreciation for little spots like this in Lakeland! Peterson Park is a gem that is definitely also pretty hidden. It’s tucked away behind quaint Cleveland Heights neighborhoods and CH golf course. You can enter it by turning between the YMCA and Cleveland Heights animal hospital.
I can’t even properly word how gorgeous this area is. There are gazebos and grill out spots, baseball fields and a few other activities, along with plenty of parking. And then there’s the boardwalk. Holy moly.
The boardwalk, as one would expect, criss crosses all over one of the many lakes of LAKEland (yes, the name is actually accurate for the area haha). It’s serene, quiet and peaceful but lively and buzzing at the same time (lots of funny bugs, frogs, birds and other flying all around). There are benches to sit on and just enjoy the nature- though do remember you are still in Florida. Some nasty looking spiders love to hang out in areas like this.
I am just in love with Peterson Park. It’s such a marvelous getaway right in my own backyard. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s also a typically much, much less crowded walking/ running option compared to Lake Hollingsworth down the road....
Read moreThe park is nice but the thing is that when I have my device on me and I need to charge it I get told by the grounds keeper the the working plugs are only for the grounds keepers to use. Now if that's the case, why aren't they turned off until the grounds keepers need to use them. Second I get told that nobody is allowed to be at the park all day but I have seen other people hanging out at the park all day long until the park gets ready to close and nothing is said to them about it at all. I think the grounds keepers are playing favorites or something. Always trying to kick people out they don't want even if they are not doing anything wrong. Parks are for anyone who want to enjoy having fun, relaxing and having a quiet time...
Read moreI have been going to and through Peterson park for over 10 years. The path connecting Cleveland Heights Blvd to New Jersey Ave is such a quick and pleasant bike ride that it's a favorite route of mine. I see lots of people fishing along the way as well as those taking advantage of the wonderful photo opportunities especially around sunset. The small, wooden bridge along the path is a favorite place for many for photos even in wedding gowns. There is a wooden walkway through the trees and along the lake which is super scenic and a nice walk...
