Sanctuary Woods is one of our favorite quick Summer hikes. The trees are just beautiful and some are quite old and large. Despite the amount of tree carving that’s there, I’d encourage you to leave the trees be and don’t molest them.

As you no doubt know, there’s quite a few stairs at the beginning of the loop. If you’re not normally accustomed to that many flights of stairs, you may want to take it slow.

There’s lots of hidden treasures at Sanctuary Woods like an old abandoned car (from the 50s I think?) as well as these colorful rocks were pictured in front of.

Check it out and enjoy the trails responsibly! Take only pictures and leave only...

A nice but challenging walking trail where you scale several flights of stairs and hills. If you’re lucky you even be able to find several huge parts of broken up property which have been graffitied with bright colors that has a unique look. Outside of that, there is unfortunately a lot more negative graffiti wear trees and other structures have been defaced. Once you reach the top of the walking trails you can even get a slight view of the lake. Although this place isn’t bad, I think Holland has many other parks and outdoor areas much more...

If you don't mind a mini, Mt. Pisgah stairway up into the beautiful tree filled path, then this is the place for you. The stairs take you up to the path. Very beautiful and a nice, short loop. You can see the sparkling sun reflected in the water down below on Lake Macatawa. Great for a refresher of peacefulness whether you're just starting your day, or just ending it. What are you waiting for?! Go check it out!!

P.S Important news: There is a geocache at...

Gorgeous preserve. Good walking shoes and water are nice to take along. We went on a slightly chilly day but I imagine bug spray is usually needed. Do not skip leg day if you want to straight thru the staircase. That said, they have at least 2 benches built into the sides and at the top is a nice lookout spot to sit before continuing the upper trail. Look forward to visiting again and again.

I run the stairs every week. This preserve is a hidden gem in Holland. Not too busy, great views (especially in the winter when the leaves aren't blocking the view of the Lake) and friendly people. Check this place out if you want a nice walk. Go off the beaten path a bit and you'll find this cool Graffiti spot that my dog and I like to visit.
