Ocean County Park Off-Leash Dog Run — Attraction in Lakewood Township

Nice place for the dogs. Unfortunately the "veteran" visitors make it weird and uncomfortable for anyone they don't see as one of their own. There is a group of 6-10 people that will leave as soon as anyone new or perhaps "undesirable" comes in. Boomer stuff. Otherwise my dogs love it and have only had one issue with a very preachy guy and his pitbull, who left a cut on my older dog's ear. Almost zero oversight, although the lady that is there occasionally is very kind and knows my dogs. Watch out for Harry and his mom. And her other 3-4 dogs (against park rules). She's like a cult leader. Weird stuff. Just go and keep to yourself and your dogs...

I'm a NJ tax payer and although the park is great, the administration is TERRIBLE!!! Brought my dog and they require a permit but typical NJ you cannot purchase it at the park. Nasty people working there - first dog park I've ever visited with this policy - later in the day the nasty admin people leave, don't go in AM without a permit....

Great place! My dog loves all dogs 🐕 and the people are friendly especially the woman, Laura(?) who checks you have the necessary information to get in ( if new). She has a great memory. If your dog is friendly (helps if you are too) what a fabulous place. Need paperwork to...
