I Park on the Rooney Road parking lot. There is a cross road 🚲 motorcycle trail right in the beginning of the trail. And the noice of motorcycles is going to be all day long with you. Or better until you hike or Leave. The hike is moderate uphill. Some sharp stairway at one point, moderate difficulty. If it's wet or raining this is going to be dangerous hike. It was a dry day luckily. To get to the top approximately 45 min to an hour. Once you get to the top the trail has left and right. If you take the left side you are going to have moderate uphill hike for 15 minutes and after the trail is on the Clif of the mountains for about 40 minutes. Beautiful view towards Red Rock's amphitheatre. And nice view towards the city. But from here you can enjoy the car traffic noice on the left side of the road that is pretty busy the highway. And then there is a traffic on the right side of the city. Just traffic and traffic and traffic. Some 🚲 are trying to do the trail for challenge because this is not a 🚲 trail, as it is very narrow isn't at maximum safety. I give it 3 star's because the city noise doesn't make you enjoy a second of peace. It's just so noisy and busy, stressful...
Read moreThanks to Daylight Savings time, I’ve been unable to tackle this trail during the day. Truth be told - it was probably for the best. Lol. The immediate incline is….something! Start at the Rooney Road Trailhead (bathrooms are located here) and hike up the Green Mountain Trail (go to the left - toward the Box o Rocks Trail). Just know that it’s an intense climb up - the trail is wide enough to fit a car - so you’ll be fine with all the other travelers on this journey. Spoiler alert-once you get close to the top - you can jump on the Scenic Loop Trail. Anyway, take a moment at the top to just breathe and pinch yourself that you can live/visit here. Bonus: all downhill back to the trailhead. Go...
Read moreThis is a great hiker trailhead. Clearly marked parking with toilets available. That’s pretty much all you need.
Great launch point for two trail systems.
I don’t go here on the weekends though, except a very rare early morning hike. I tried to go once midday on a weekend, and the parking lot was overflowing with people parking on the side of the road illegally. This is my weekday morning before work spot, when there are far fewer people at any trailhead in general. I...
