I, along with my partner and our good friends and their infant, purchased camping reservations and tickets (Friday & Saturday) with pit passes for the 2025 Thunder Valley Nationals.
We have gone every year prior to the Supercross Championship in Denver, and decided to do something a little different and spend our money instead this year to experience a Pro Motocross Championship.
We purchased are tickets back in late March and were very much looking forward to this event. Per the camping reservations, camping move in times start on Thursday, June 5th at noon, and if we plan on moving in on Thursday, we needed to purchase a Friday-Saturday ticket, which we had made sure of.
We had looked at the weather days prior to the 5th and knew the weather was going to be questionable, but we were prepared on our end, and expecting to still enjoy the events as per the ticket website (Universe), the event was rain or shine.
We had arrived on Thursday the 5th a little before noon to move in our camper, and we were there for almost 6 hours. Campers were getting stuck in the mud and so the decision was eventually made to move the remaining campers in line, to the Bandimere parking lot a few minutes away from the track. Our main reason for purchasing the camping reservations, was because we had a 1 year old child with us and the plan was to just walk back to the camper as needed for naps, food, etc. While this change of location wasn’t exactly what we had signed up or payed for, we wanted to make the best of it even with highway right out our camper doorstep.
Friday morning came along and we were advised that the rain or shine event we had tickets for that day, was canceled. Our Friday consisted of hanging out at the camper which was fine, but the neighboring camper behind us made our way experience, not only on Friday, but the whole weekend extremely unenjoyable.
The people in the camper behind us were smoking weed from Friday-Sunday, as I know that it is illegal to smoke weed in a public place, I imagine if we were on Thunder Valley property that wouldn’t have been tolerated. Honestly, I have no problem with this activity, but not only did we have a 1 year old baby with us, but there were many other young children present in neighboring campers. There was alcohol being consumed and music being blasted all night Friday and all through the night on Saturday. And when I say blasted, that is an understatement. Friday night we tolerated the music blaring Friday night as they stopped it around 10/10:30 pm. But Saturday night is when things got out of hand. Although we had to have the windows in our camper open, even with them closed, the bass of the music was so loud it was shaking our camper. Around 10 pm on Saturday it got to the point our 1 year old was crying because we were trying to get her to sleep but the bass was shaking the camper. We had called the non emergency police number and officers came out and they turned off the music. About an hour later, they turned it back on, and we obviously can’t sleep, so I had went out to the group and respectfully asked them to turn down the music. They had not said anything to me, I repeated my request, and they shut off the music. An hour later, they had returned to blasting the music so I had called the non emergency police number again, and the music was shut off after that. That was about 1:30 am. Along with the marijuana, I find it very hard to believe this would have been tolerated on the Thunder Valley property. It was very frustrating that we were moved to a place that wasn’t monitored at all.
Needless to say, our camping experience was anything but enjoyable. I emailed David regarding my experience and got a response back over a month ago offering a refund but it’s been radio...
Read moreThis track is great. As a dad, I'm concerned with the safety of my kids of course like any other parents. Thunder Valley has several great places to ride. Well maintained motocross track. Another good one for younger kids and most importantly the other Riders are respectful and helpful of the younger Riders. I've seen older kids stop and help younger ones even protecting them at blind corners so they wouldn't get hit by other riders coming around.,.. the tracks are clean and well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful... Everyone out there is on the same page. They want to go out and ride and have a good time. Price-wise Thunder Valley is right in line with the rest of them. It's 20 bucks per rider for a day. I wish it was a little less expensive but NOT having to deal with the occasional goofball in a side-by-side drinking a case of beer flopping around in the front seat,...Then hey,... It's...
Read moreJust attended the Pro national 6/5/2021, as always the track was in great shape and made for a great day of racing. It was an extremely hot day and this track has zero shade. The reason for 3 stars is because the vending at this track (particularly this year) is absolutely pathetic, standing in line for an hour and a half only to find out that they are out of water of all things is unacceptable. The website stated that this year coolers were not allowed only to see coolers everywhere. I've attended this race the last 6 years and look forward to it each year especially since it's only 5 miles from home. Like I said previously it's always great racing at this track but if you can't do a better job with vending maybe its time to start taking road trips and visit some other tracks...
