I grow up in this park. Played ball swing climb up in thing even wade in little pool. That not only thing I did I rode horse up there to make money when I was about 12 years old with the neighborhood kids. What is so amazing is my son Daniel Jost at the of 14 dedicated the wheelchair swing with the St Mary College students from the class of 2015-2017 Doctor of physical therapy. They raised over $2000 to put this swing in Hawthorne Park 2 years ago. Daniel Jost got honor of this deed because he was the only child in Lv school district 453 in a wheelchair. My son has Spinda Bifida. This took the students sometime to raise this money I think over a year to raise it. I was talking about this Hawthorne Park when I was kid and this where Daniel and the student pick this park to go. There a lot of history behind that park. I'm hoping to get this picture in here to. The one I did forget to say and that Daniel got his picture taking with the Mayor Lisa Weakley. The students got a certificate for the good...

We haven't checked out the other amenities yet, but we see other families using the baseball/softball...
Read moreThe ballfields havent changed over the years. Always good for a game when the intramural sports aren't going. They have changed out the playground equipment throughout the years and they have a nice little kids area. The best thing they added was the splash pad. I love this but you may want to take a little extra bleach spray as the homeless population that likes to visit has a habit of sitting and laying on the tables and r8ns8ng off there. The vibe of the park can be way different from friday night where the unattended teenish crowd are stacking tables to climb on roofs and graffiti posts and tables to a tuesday morning befire lunch when you are the only one...
