Good…not great…. This park has no privacy for the campers. It feels like a parking lot. A couple shrubs or privacy trees in between the sites would make a big difference but instead you feel like you are on top of your neighbors. The beach and swimming area was nice. We appreciate the terraced grass section so everyone gets a pretty good view of the water and you are able to see your kids swim and play from where you are lounging (unless someone puts up a tent or umbrella in front of you). The playground is nice for the kids and the open grass area. But some the roads/parking lot was all torn up, kids had a hard time scootering and riding bikes because some of the roads were a mess. Again it was pretty good, not great. I had expected a little nicer of a state park for Chelan. The grounds were mostly clean and the bathrooms were fine. We didn’t make purchases from the store but it is a nice convenience. The family bathrooms were nice to have but the door didn’t lock on the women’s side. Would have been nice to have at least a curtain to block if someone accidentally opened the door. For the family bathroom you would expect more hooks to hang multiple towels and shower items but you only had two and a small bench, makes it difficult when you have multiple people, especially kids and trying to share shower space, but thankfully there is a toilet in the family bathroom as well as a shower.
I just appreciate a little more privacy from neighbors. This state park has so much potential to be fantastic, but there are some areas that could be improved,...
Read moreLake Chelan State Park offers a refreshing oasis for those seeking a water-centric retreat. With its inviting waters and expansive shoreline, it's a fantastic spot for swimming and enjoying aquatic activities. The crystal-clear lake beckons, creating a haven for cooling off and unwinding under the sun.
However, while the lake steals the show, the camping experience might leave a bit to be desired for those valuing privacy. The lack of seclusion in the camping areas is a notable aspect to consider when planning your stay. The close proximity of neighboring sites might detract from the tranquil escape you envision, as the boundaries between spaces may feel less defined.
Despite the potential for crowded campsites, Lake Chelan State Park compensates with its natural beauty and access to the lake. The combination of stunning views and the allure of the water make it a destination that's hard to resist. Whether you're dipping your toes in the lake, kayaking, or simply basking in the lakeside ambiance, the park's waterfront offerings are a definite highlight.
In summary, Lake Chelan State Park is a paradise for water enthusiasts, providing an ideal setting for swimming and water activities. While the camping experience might lack the desired level of privacy due to close proximity, the overall allure of the lake and its surroundings makes this park a worthwhile destination for those seeking a refreshing and...
Read moreDONT GO ON A MAJOR HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I was super excited for this trip and we ended up leaving a day early. The park was nice but privacy can definitely be improved. Upon arrival there was another family on our campsite. They were very nice and moved off our table and fire pit but just south. They clearly were not paying and had just parked it where they wanted. That evening the ranger did approach them to figure out a different situation. We unfortunately could not go to bed because our neighbors were not applying to the 10pm lights out policy. As well because it was the fourth of July- fireworks started going off - bad weekend to come. Needless to say it was a poor nights sleep. Lastly I would say the park should limit the number of day use guests in the park. It takes away from the campers experience and use. The beach side was completely packed. The only place to go was down the way on the cove but then you dont get access to the swimming area. I would definitely recommend they expand that. The park was otherwise nice and in good condition and well cared for. Little access or mention of hiking trails nearby so if that is a priority, this isnt the best spot.
If the noise problem, privacy and overcrowded-ness (holiday imposed) - I would say this is a nice place for families. They have a great concession stand, gorgeous lawn for games and nice...
