This park is a beautiful little oasis hidden in the heart of suburbia. Gezer offers something for just about everyone. At any given time you’ll find local residents walking the paved paths complete with markers for tracking distance (for those of us who haven’t gone -completely- digital!), a menagerie of friendly dogs to greet, and children running around having fun on the playground or riding bikes. There are quiet benches for sitting away from the action, as well as tables, seating, and a pavilion for those who want to be a part of it all! Beautiful landscaping create a space that not only welcomes its guests, but also bridges a great distance as it teaches passers by of elements inspired by a land across the globe from our own. Nestled into spots of interest, visitors will find information about the trees, plants, and water fixtures that were embedded into this park, and how they were inspired by Leawood’s relationship with the Gezer Region of Israel.
Here you can also find a fire pit, a picnic area, restrooms, two art sculptures, and a mini vineyard in the summer.
As a bonus, there can almost always be found avid players of Pokémon GO or Wizards Unite, as this park has an abundance of features that interact...

As a card-carrying geezer, I'd hoped I'd found my people: old, misanthropic, curmudgeonly men harrumphing about politics and kids these days, and droning on about our bunions, the unseasonable heat, and World War II. Possible over chess boards.
Nope. Turns out that "e" was nowhere to be found. And that applies to more than just "geezers" too. People playing real sports instead of e-sports and on dates instead of e-dates, and even enjoying themselves in constant motion instead of cantankerous e-motion.
Bah. Youth is wasted on the young.
Oh! And a bunch of little rodents followed me around pointing their "smart" phones at me like Kirk with a phaser and trying to "capture" me. Took me close to an hour to make it clear I wasn't a "Mega Alakazam" - whatever the hell THAT is. I threw spoons at them until...
Read moreVery nice park that is clean but parking is small if there is a party at the covered picnic area. We just parked at the price chopper across the street. Even after a hard rain, there was no muddy or wet spots. Maybe some wet sand I'd you dug a foot down in the sand pit. The park is the same shape and geography as a mini Isreal with a running stream through it for the Jordan River. People were nice and respectful of distance with kids playing in the stream. Very fun and educational. Meant for elementary aged kids with the size of playground equipment. A few equipment are toddler sized but they will need adult help. Usually birthday parties...
