Empty Nesters Winery — Attraction in Lecompton

Really exceptional place. I'm originally from California and lived in the Napa area for about 6 years and I would say the tasting experience here was on par, if not better than many of the wineries I went to there. My husband, MIL and I stopped in for a tasting, where we ended up trying all of their fruit wines. Each wine was distinct in flavor and highlighted the fruit it was made of rather than being sort of a middling sweet table wine - hard to achieve. My favorite was the blueberry, which tasted like a slice of pie. It wasn't overly sweet and had a wonderful backing of acidity with a smooth finish. My husband's favorite was their strawberry.

I absolutely love visiting this winery! There’s so much I love that I cannot list it all from the wines to the wine slushies year round and the mulled wine in the fall/winter. They just came out with some wine jellies that REALLY taste like the wine and it pairs great with goat cheese and crackers. In the summer they have music in the cozy back patio area with some outstanding talent. It’s also a family oriented venue so if you feel like you want a wine slush and have the kids it’s a-ok! You can also send the kids across the street to the park while you watch from the window seat and enjoy your wine. What a great place and just a short drive from Topeka where I live and even closer drive from Lawrence. It’s a must see winery! Ps, the staff is phenomenal, so down to earth...

This is an exceptional place. The staff was kind, informed, and offered excellent service. The venue was wonderful! They have an outdoor space that offered a classy quiet with gorgeous live music on Saturdays that set the ambience. Not to mention, a wonderful assortment of wines. If you haven't been to this winery, you are missing out on one of the most exquisite local jems. If you are looking for unique local winery with atmosphere and savory wines, this is your place.
