These are the remnants of coke ovens from the late 1800's to the 1930's. The coke ovens heated coal to remove impurities, and the coke was then used in iron and steel production. There are quite a few in the area. The park is small. There isn't much else to see other than the ovens, but it is a neat piece of iron making history. There is also an Ohio Historical Marker to commemorate the historical significance...

I had no grand expectations for this park, but it was definitely interesting and my three and a half year old declared it "the best park ever." I believe the unique structures and the long bike path played into that declaration. He loves to ride his trike and going on a warm fall day during peak autumnal leaf colors and falling definitely helped! Lots of birds and fascinating plants too! I am sure to return in the spring!
