We went to the water park. Had to leave early for emergency reason. Had my 4 yr old grandson with me and 4 of his friends for a birthday party. His dad was on his way. However they were at capacity but wouldn't allow his dad to take my place to leave for the emergency. So I paid for the day for myself and my grandson and 4 other children for an hour of time. I feel that they could have made an exception for this issue. It was all about my grandson having a good time for his birthday either his friends. I wasn't trying to get someone else in before others just because I wanted to. I even asked about this b4 I paid because i knew there was a chance i would have to leave and was told there wouldn't be an issue. They have now lost my everyday business for the summers now. I will find somewhere else to take my grandson. A place that cares and understand people have emergencies and care about the children not having to leave do to something they don't understand because...

I grew up near JB. My friends and I spent many summers there, riding bikes, climbing the cliffs and having fun. Back then, most of the old buildings were boarded up. Now the powder magazine and the exchange have been turned into museums, and they are great.

I brought my 7 and 9 year old grandsons to JB last weekend to look for the various military and historical points of interest that were recently written about in a local paper. But we were pleasantly surprised to find military reenactors (Vietnam era.)

After spending time with them, we visited the Powder Magazine museum (which focuses on WW-II) and the Civil War museum.

These museums are first class and well worth the trip. The Civil War museum has a small cost, but the WW-II museum asks for voluntary donations.

Jefferson Barracks is a real local treasure even if you're not a military or...

Please remember when leaving comments about this CEMETERY that it is in fact a CEMETERY and SOLDIERS are BURIED HERE and their loved ones can read your VERY INSENSITIVE COMMENTS ABOUT BATHROOMS AND PLAYGROUNDS, I’m so disgusted my baby brother gave his life to be a doctor in the navy, fought with the marines in Iraq and Fallujah FOR YOU TO COMPLAIN ABOUT PLAYGROUNDS AT HIS CEMETERY. THANK YOU ALL. This is what society has become today; you can’t even see the dead people lying in the ground right in front of your face! Your kid needs their playground! How dare you teach them about all of the lives lost in all of the battles through all of the years!?! How dare you teach them to appreciate another humans life, we don’t do that anymore. Where’s the playground? His name is Dan, we called...

Very interesting historical property, the main barracks are all actively being used so they are off limits to the public and fenced off,but you can see them from a distance through the fence and the rest of the building outside the fence line are either being use to house military personnels or have been turned into a museum and then there's the ones being restored and worked on for historical preservation as they have been doing through the years with all the structures that are still standing, there's parks and walking trails around it and is a huge property so plan to do a lot of walking and driving to check it all out, well maintained by the grounds keepers,a must to go see to explore military history or just a nice place to go for a group gathering at one of the pavilions.

Great trails, hills and memorials. We enjoyed the walking trail from the casino to the Barracks along the mighty Mississippi River! We also enjoyed sledding on the hills!

Large historical park in South STL that has a long black-topped walkway on the edge of the woods along the surrounding roadway.  Fun for exercise fanatics & those who just want a leisurely stroll. Great for your pets also. Deer have the run of the park & graze comfortably along with their human counterparts, both harmoniously enjoying nature together.  The park has ample pavilions for picnics, family events & corporate functions. The park has significant landmarks that memorialize important events of this area's history. Immediately, south of the park are the historical Missouri National Guard base, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery & the Veteran's Hospital.
