Bob Timberlake Gallery — Attraction in Lexington

Stopped by with my girlfriend while on a day trip from Greensboro to Charlotte. I've always wanted to bring my out-of-town girlfriend to see the gallery. The last 2 years have been hard on this wonderful art retreat They have had to cut back on several areas of the building such as the coffee bar due to the drop in visitors. It is a shadow of its former glory with much of the art on display in a diminished quantity. Still very enjoyable to view what is there. I did make a purchase of one framed, limited edition print of Master Bob's art that I had put off for quite some time as I was worried that I might wait too long and miss the opportunity. I did miss the opportunity on another of his prints which is now sold out and no longer available. While my girlfriend & I sat in the garden swing enjoying the calm of the garden, Bob made a brief appearance and was his usual gracious self as I have met him this way on other occasions. I first encountered Bobs work at the Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, where I proposed to my wife. It was deeply evocative to me. Ive since thought a lot about why his art moves me like that. And then I discovered the Bob Timberlake Gallery, where I was able to meet him and spend time speaking with him about his art, his history in the area and his pursuit of furniture! He is such a kind and friendly person. The gallery is gorgeous. Its Bobs own design! The gallery is full of his furniture designs and personal collections. If you visit during the Lexington Classic you'll get to meet many other talented local artisans of varied disciplines. I picked up several of his prints, and I really regret having only bought one fried fruit pie the last time I was there!

I had purchased a specialty item from an online auction, so I visited the gallery for Open House to get my item signed. Mr. Timberlake was wonderful. He was happy to sing my postcard even though it isn't an item sold in the gallery. The staff in the gallery were AMAZING! The gallery was simply gorgeous. They have a HUGE selection for any price range. If you are looking for fine art, a framed print or just passing by, I highly recommend visiting the Bob Timberlake Gallery.
