Boiler Bay scenic viewpoint is always a great place to stop. I went down there twice today, once this morning and once in early afternoon. We watched grey whales both times southwest of the far end of the viewpoint. There were several sea kayakers and larger boats with fisherman in the area for added attraction. There were several people casting with surf rods to the northwest of the point. There appeared to be two whale calves and two cows in the morning and one cow-calf pair in the afternoon. They were a hundred to two hundred yards offshore so they were quite easy to see without the aid of binoculars. We also saw seals and possibly a sea lion in the morning. The weather was warm...

Admittedly, Boiler Bay is not the most beautiful stop on the coast. However, what it has going for it is convenience. The stop is a super easy pull out, especially if you are already headed south, and it provides a lovely view. The road curves gently through the parking area and then arcs back to Highway 101 so nicely that it seems like you hardly even have to slow down. That’s an exaggeration, but if you go there you’ll see what I mean. On a nice day, it would be a lovely spot to enjoy the sunset, which you could do almost without getting out of your car! There is a nice bathroom there, which is accessible, it’s a nice...

Amazing view of big ocean waves against the rocky cliffside, but mediocre accessibility. The main viewpoint out at the edge of the cliff, is not very accessible. Not wheelchair friendly, slippery mud when its rainy, and VERY uneven ground that could be difficult for elders or people with walking difficulties. However, there are a few points (from the parking lot and from the sidewalk around it) that are accessible for everyone. These areas provide similar amazing views of the waves, rocky cliffside, and out across the ocean. But they dont provide access to the main viewpoint out at the edge...

Nice pullout stop along Oregon Coast that can be accessed from driving either North or South on 101. Has washrooms with good access options. Lots of free parking. No trails or beach access. The walk out to the peninsula is not paved but offers great 270 degree views. Looking south has interesting chaotic wave patterns..many waves crash up against the rocks for nice splashes. Rocks are fenced off so viewers dont get get washed out during extreme wave times. The day I was there was a little choppy..tough to spot any whales.
