This review is specifically for the Secret Beach at the northernmost end of Lincoln Beach. It was a place that I read about and few people get to see as it is not readily accessible. It can be reached by parking at the Roads End Recreation parking lot then walking about a mile north to what appears to be the end of the wide sandy beach where the cliffs meet the Pacific Ocean. Only when there is a negative number low tide you will find a way to make your way around the rocks, wading through several inches of water and making a short climb over some rocks. Bring shoes you can walk in the water with and climb over rocks with! The kelp is extremely slippery so avoid stepping on it! However this is well worth it as when you emerge on the other side you find a beautiful alcove that is made of crushed aggregate. There are many crevasses to explore and if you are a rock collector, this is your dream. You can see lots of sea life in the tide pools such as starfish and sea anemones. As much as you want to stay and explore, do NOT get caught on this side while the tide is coming in. It can rise hard and fast and you can be totally trapped. PLEASE always consult the local online tide charts and only attempt to visit this place when the tide is showing a...
Read moreLovely place to spend an afternoon. We started our adventure looking for a Lincoln City Glass Float but ended up collecting sea shells and climbing on the rocks for a couple of hours. It sprinkled a little bit while we were there but it was the end of February so we were prepared. We didn’t see much tide pools but we did see a jellyfish in a little pool of water.
We did a little drone flying too which was a fun shot. We ended up walking about 4 miles all together while exploring.
We actually did go back two weeks later on a sunny day and did some more walking and exploring before sitting down on our blanket for a nice picnic. We then played some beach bocce ball. Such a long flat beach which is perfect terrain for that. We’ll be back for more since it’s only and hour and a...
Read moreThis was a really fun and interesting beach to be able to go down on our last day on the coast. The access was simple and easy to locate which was fantastic; the trail down to the beach was mostly paved half way down before turning into large cobble stone type rocks- be careful! Once down onto the beach you can go left or right. We went right and enjoyed finding many agates along the rocky patches of the beach as well as walking in the warm sand to start our morning off right. This is a gorgeous area to go to and seems to be a little less busy especially on such a major holiday weekend-which we can definitely appreciate! We are excited to come back and visit this beach again and again in the future to see what other sort of treasures we may...
