My cousins and myself went on a friday night to catch the sunset. I suggest parking at the 2nd trailhead. We parked at the very start of the trail. Hike was moderate but uphill the whole time. The hike itself wasn't too terrible, just steep. I reccomend bringing trekking poles and a good flashlight. Once you reach the knoll there is a trail that continues that will take you to gods thumb. Even though this hike was steep I would definitely do this hike again. Decent parking at the first trailhead. The second trailhead is close to people's houses, please be respectful and not block the road or go onto their property. stay on the trail

The view looks over devils lake, lincoln city, and the...

Pretty views from the top of The Knoll, I guess, but it's just an overlook of Lincoln City beach stretch. The way up is unpleasantly steep, or atleast after hiking several other mountains that day. The trail is loaded with people, so it wasn't a great experience. We avoided God's Thumb, even though we wanted to see it, because we wanted to be respectful of the private land and its residents that border the trail. It's been controversial. All in all, it is not worth it to me. If you are a local high schooler in cross country, this is a good workout, but as a tourist it is...

The Knoll overlook is a relatively short-but-steep climb with rewarding views over Roads End and the rest of Lincoln City. It’s a great place for a scenic picnic.

We parked in the designated area near the trailhead where Port Drive and NE Sal La Sea Drive meet. (Overflow parking is further down Sal La Sea, so be sure not to block residents’ driveways. Police had been called for this very reason when we were coming back from the hike.)

I'm giving God's Thumb hill the 5 stars. The 2 plus hour out and back hike was a bit much. I give the Knoll trail 2 and 1/2 stars because it is mostly uninteresting with few features. We got on the Knoll trail from Devils Lake Blvd, which is apparently the way the locals prefer you to use when hiking. I hiked this in June. Make sure to bring plenty of water and good hiking shoes/boots. If you are brave/not bothered by heights you can make it to the top of God's Thumb which is pretty darn CšŸ˜ŽšŸ˜ŽL!
