Ginger Anthony is the county historian and she maintains the museum. She has exhibits that are fun and interesting of our county. Like the mammoth bones that were found. Or the piece of the old hotel it's only a quarter of the hotel but so much history in it. One of the one room school houses is there and the second graders used to go there once a year for a day of school. Through out the summer- usually from June through October- Saturday mornings are set aside for the farmers market. Any one can set up there and sell produce, live plants, homemade foods, art, or any various items. Also during the summer if Bike Across Kansas comes through a special station is set up for that time. The fall brings the auction. Christmas brings several weekends of fun such as a day of singers- local talent, horse drawn wagon rides, Santa, a night of wine tasting, and so much more. Read moreA sudden change in weather forced us to cancel our distance travel plans so decided to make a short trip to visit this museum since we already had day together planned. Was well worth the 30 minute drive. An excellent museum that showcases the changes in the area over the past 150 years. The exhibits are well put together and organized for a visitor to have an educational tour as you wonder through the museum. Much more to see than what you might expect for a small town.
